With those delicate water roots, I'd consider planting out by 'puddling' as used for leek seedlings. Use a dibber to press a hole a few inches deep. Drop the rooted stem in. Instead of firming in with soil, pour in water to fill up the hole. Fine silt will settle around the roots giving a gentle anchoring into which the roots can get established. The hole will eventually collapse in on itself. A tremendous method for leek seedlings, where you would make quite a deep hole into which the stem base can expand as they grow. It's also a fast planting method.
@sza2bom Жыл бұрын
I think that is mostly what we have seen here. There was no firming just covering, and then water was added so the soil particles can settle around the roots.

Try incorporating soil health principles in your planting and you will see huge results. 1. Keep armour on the soil (mulch, leaf litter, green manure) it will improve water infiltration and retention, reduce erosion, protect the soil from too much heat or cold fluctuation, and feed the soil organisms. 2. Reduce disturbance including tillage (digging or turning over soil), chemicals, fertilizers, fungicides and herbicides. 3. Increase diversity in plants 4. Keep a living root in the soil year round for as long as possible. 5. Incorporate animals (earth worms are animals too) 6. Keep it in your context (don't plant bananas above the arctic circle and such). If you start with mulching at the base of those cuttings, you will reduce weed pressure and keep the moisture in the soil. The deeper the mulch/leaf litter, the larger your worm-worker colony will be.
@Lee Lindsay: I believe this is a nursery planting so they’re just being heeled-in in sand. No one would plant grapevines this closely for vineyard planting. Your advice is all good, but this is simply about rooting grapevines.

The video shows the initial process of growing seedlings, which will be transplanted to a permanent place in the fall.
@@myamazinghomestead9774 It's a nice video. You should have added subtitles for ease of visitors to your site. Where from Ukraine? We are planning to come to Ukraine in near future. May be 2022-23.

So you used honey as the root hormone. Did you add any nutrients to the hydroponic growth?
@tdkaz3 жыл бұрын
i guess he did but not tell - beside water without air gonna be rotten really quick - need to change i guess and close the top of cuttings with melted candle
In a previous reply, he stated that he uses River water and honey for soaking the cuttings for 24 hours. In the tank, he only uses River water that’s changed once per week.

Excelente metodo!!

@myamazinghomestead97743 жыл бұрын
Привет из Украины! Мед - это отличный натуральный стимулятор роста корней. В воде с медом черенки находятся 24 часа.
