🌱 I've been watching your videos out of sequence, with this, your first, being viewed after many others. I was under the impression that you were a senior, if not a Professor of art, so it was delightful to hear that you do not labour under any of the excesses of formal art education. It's exciting finding out that you've forged your own way forward and I look forward to hearing more

This is wonderful, delightful; I rarely subscribe before listening to a whole video at least, but I know I'm going to like more of this.

Dear Boryana, Thank you for the videos. I´m an art teacher (history) in Mexico (University of Guadalajara). I use them for discussion and analysis..... is it any way to communicate with you? to talk about some projects we have. Best regards.

Dear Queen, what is the best way to degrade myself to galleries? Should I degrade myself in the first person or, third person? A recent well know Ahh em, “artist,” found themself elevated to the highest of stations and is known to often shamelessly refer to himself in the third person in what can only be described as a typical artist statement. While doing so appears to have gotten him to that station, things don’t seem to be working out very well for him lately. On the other hand, if I take the more demur approach with a statement written in the first person it can come off as arrogant by not allowing the viewers of my paintings their own existential space to see what only they can uniquely experience as individuals. Artist statements in the first person for painters can all be boiled down to, “I like to paint. I want you to buy my painting.” In doing this, I might just as well be selling widgets or…soup cans (thank you Andy). I don’t like writing little blurbs of text about a piece either. For crying out loud, I’ve already said what I want to say about the painting. It’s hanging right in front of you and, YOU’RE LOOKING IT! 😂 Hell, I don’t even like titling my paintings but I mostly grudgingly do. What do think about this as an all encompassing, universal artist statement that would have the dual purpose of pointing out the degree to which artist statements are bullshit and, if enough artists use it as a rebellion against the use of artist statement in the hope that the practice of galleries wanting artist statements will finally and mercifully end? This is it, “I hate artist statements.”
