I don’t know why Maryland keeps being put in the South. If you’ve ever been there, it clearly has Northeast vibes. Baltimore is a gritty city, Ocean Beach is a lot like New Jersey, Bethesda is a serious suburb of DC, and Annapolis has a lot of Colonial-esque charm. Also, its inclusion in the Northeast also gives DC a good regional boundary between the North and the South.

I'd love to see videos on regions in each state. For example, I don't believe people realize how diverse, regionally, geographically, and culturally, that Virginia is. There are whopping differences between Norfolk, Manassas, Charlottesville and Wytheville, and they're not all that far apart.
@michaeltrace1109 Жыл бұрын
I would also like to see state regions covered. Oklahoma and Arkansas both have numerous subregions that are greatly different from the others and a video about other would go a long way to dispell the stereotypical reputations both have since most paint states, not just these two, with such broad paintbrushes. Nick Johnson did the states a couple years back breaking them down by regions and was able to sell T-shirts with his state slide showing the region. I can't find my Unboxing Arkansas shirt to this day since my wife wears it more than I do, and she didn't even watch the video! Think of the merch opportunities!

It's common for people without roots in the area to get it confused. Many of the people in the state are recent transplants/immigrants or their grandparents were. So it has lost a lot of the Southern feel. But make no mistke, it is Southern. It was literally the Capitol of the Confederacy. D.C. was a major slave trading city. The history is hidden. People forget that Arlington National Cemetery was Robert E Lee's plantation. And the flag that people often associate with the Confederacy was actually the battle flag for the Army of Northern Virginia.

As someone who grew up in Western New York and lived several years in Western PA, I can say with confidence that these regions have a more Midwestern feel than a Northeastern feel. I tend to lump any regions that are adjacent to the Great Lakes as part of a specific region but I tend not to use the term Midwest. It's more like Rust Belt/Great Lakes Industrial. Towns like Buffalo, Erie, Rochester, and Pittsburgh have far more in common with the cities west of them versus east. So happy the Palouse got a shout-out, though most of it is actually in Eastern Washington, not Idaho. And yes, it really do be that pretty. Also I can confirm from experience that operating farm machinery on those hills is often a hair-raising experience.

You should do a series of every States region

Realistically both the Carolina’s Georgia Alabama Mississippi Louisiana & Florida is the south . majority of Texas , Ok , AR , Missouri, Tennessee, Kentucky . Aren’t the south but have southern culture . Everybody I’ve met also agree when I say both virginias are the NORTH . MARYLAND IS AS WELL

This guy must be from Arkansas the way he singles it out. The Midwest is not only "fly over country" according to him, but also completely ignored. BTW, West Virginia was once Virginia, but so was Kentucky. Several cities including Lexington and Louisville were incorporated as Virginia cities.

Somewhere past Lewiston, Idaho, the southern portion of the state follows Mountain Time, while the Panhandle is on Pacific Time. There's an idea floating around out there about creating another state, not with Oregon, but one that involves Eastern Washington (Spokane), North Idaho (Coeur d'Alene), and Western Montana (Missoula) since commerce is more closely connected in this region than with Seattle, Boise, and anything east of Missoula.

I absolutely loved this video. Would love to see more on subdivisions. Just keep them coming they're always interesting and thought-provoking even when the main topic doesn't particularly pertain to my lifestyle. Once again excellent video just keep it coming

Loved the video, I would love other videos like this. I will say though I find it weird that Maryland is considered the south, these days I would barely consider Virginia the south, let alone Maryland

Virginia was a Confederate state during the Civil War. Maryland was always considered the South then and Lincoln went to extreme measures to keep Maryland from seceeding including suspension of Habeas corpus.

@bovnycccoperalover3579 Yea I agree VA is still 80% southern outside of NOVA.
@reelfishing47 Жыл бұрын
Virginia is as southern as ever outside of nova sadly nova equals like 40 percent of Virginia's population now adays
@j.e3336 Жыл бұрын
@@reelfishing47 VA is still pretty big even though its not dense as NOVA. You have Central - Western and South Western VA, and 757 VA. All of which are a variation of southern to me.

VA is Southern Maryland is Mid-Atlantic/Northeast D.C is the boundary. Most people go by Civil War standards those Border States aren’t the South.

There's also Eastern United States, which includes every state east of the Mississippi River.

I would like to see a video of comparing the industrial cities of America to the foreign cities where all the industry moved to. For example Detroit in the 50’s and the cities where they build cars in Japan and South Korea.

Maryland and Delaware are part of the mid Atlantic. In the past they may have bbeen in the south but we are talking the present.
