VegasDon 711 here. You mentioned the cabins. The cabins were built with Valley of Fire sandstone by the Civilian Conservation Corps CCC in the 1930s. The cabins were for travelers. Today, it is a picnic ground.

711 here. VegasDon I know you are a movie buff. The outside Mars scenes from Total Recall were almost totally shot in Valley of Fire The scenes from the planet Veridian 3 from Star Trek Generations were filmed Valley of Fire in 1994. I searched for where the outside Mars scenes were filmed in Valley of Fire for the movie Total Recall. This is what ChatGP AI reported about Total Recall Fire Wave - was the back drop for several scenes showing the harsh alien terrain of Mars Atlatl rock area - action scenes including parts of the dream sequency and later chase scenes were filmed there Beehive - were used to show alien landscapes of Mars Elephant Rock - were used to show the vastness of the Martian landscape Star Trek Generations. The grand finale of the move where Picard and Kirk defeat Soran resulting in Kirk’s death was filmed on Silica Dome. There was a metal bridge used in this scene. A section of this bridge was donated to Valley of Fire. I read an article that reported as of 2023, the donated section of bridge can be found on the Old Arrowhead Trail.

711 here Elephant Rock is an arch. The trunk portion is very slender and the back portion in massive like a body of an elephant. The internet says it can be seen from the road. You did capture it in your video it is high up on the ridge on the right. There is no sky behind the arch only red Rock which makes it very hard to pick out. From the direction of your driving, it is very hard to pick out Elephant Rock. Perhaps if you were coming from the opposite direction there might be sky behind the arch making it easier to see.
