I would really like to see how a cat delete affects the heating up of the saddlebags. I had a tab cat delete put in with tab mufflers and zombie baffles. My cat delete is a two into one so I’m sure the left pipe (ghost pipe) is cooler, but I wonder about the right bag. Thanks for the video. I hadn’t realized the saddlebags heated up that much. Yeah I had my phone on charge in the bottom of my saddle bag and it got hot but I put it on top of all my crap and it’s fine

put a towel in the bottom of your bags with a cold pack rolled in it back when I had a bike with leather bags (I'm in Florida) I did it all the time it really keeps everything cool and no mess

Assuming most of the heat is coming from solar radiation, I'd be willing to bet that white panniers would be significantly cooler inside than matt black ones. Also, wouldn't the mufflers be making a contribution to the heat build-up, whatever colour?

Absolutely 👍

Not to downplay anything that you are saying. But your bike is flat black. I have this issue with my dark blue challenger. But I think the exhaust has as much to do with it as the sun beating on my bags.

Hello. Are those the KST commache bars? If so, how do you like them?
@CountryBoyMoto2 жыл бұрын
Yes they are and I love them. I installed them myself to save money and it wasn’t that terrible lol
@IndianMC-jf3cp2 жыл бұрын
@@CountryBoyMoto nice! Just ordered them. Probably will have dealer install though. Looks like a high fubar factor on that install. Lol. Safe riding brotha.

Soft side cooler with freeze packs keep things cool in bags, and we have cold refreshments when we stop

If you had a top case/ tour pack it wouldn't be a problem. Now 4k for that from indian, that's a problem. Any touring motorcycle should have it plus lower fairings. My biggest drawbacks to getting a challenger. But hey I like the roadmaster.

I like the challenger however I can say that would piss me off. I have a 2020 street glide special with extended bags and they never even get warm let alone hot.

I use a short hot/ cold food bag I got at Walmart for pharmacy runs. Buy a cold drink and put it in with the meds and it all stays cool

Thank you for the information for someone that has to keep his pills on him good to know even though I mostly ride at night I still think a lot of that is coming off the pipes

I got a comment from someone the other day that said they use one of those little thermal bags from Walmart to keep their meds in so maybe that will help. Thanks for watching!!!

Wonder if you lined them with mineral wool how big of a difference that would make?

I’m gonna try a couple things and see what happens.

@@CountryBoyMoto i know thats what is used for insulation when building powdercoat ovens. Should work well if you can find a clean way to line the bags with it.
@CountryBoyMoto3 жыл бұрын
I will check into it. I am gonna try the foil lined duct insulation also. I have some of that in my shop

How about two sheets of aluminium, with spacers between to allow air flow, attached under the bottom of the bags to act as heat sinks? Or maybe exhaust heat shield material glued underneath, maybe both? Great video, keep it up! 👍🇦🇺

I thought about some of the ductwork liner in the bottom of the bag. I was thinking of doing a test with that next. Thanks for watching and I appreciate the comment.

Thats a hot temp for the bags... Is the CAT still on the bike ? I see alot of riders getting rid of the CAT converter ..Great video!

Exhaust headers are original with Rinehart slip ons. The cat is still in. Thanks for watching

@@CountryBoyMoto I have test rode the Challenger 3X now...I wasn't aware of that much heat in the bags! Thanks for making this video!
@CountryBoyMoto3 жыл бұрын
I wasn’t really concerned about it because it did t seem that hot until I put the temp probe in it saw the actual temp. I don’t think it’s any kind of deal breaker but I’m gonna put something in the bottom of the bag to protect my stuff. It averaged about 115 after 30 min of riding but when I stopped and turned the bike off it shot up to 134. Like if you were stopping for gas or food. Anyway thanks for watching and have a good one!

No, I haven’t decided if I will or not. I don’t know enough about it to make up my mind and I’m still in warranty so I would rather not mess that up just yet. Have you?
