Saw (2004) may be the bleakest of the movies you mentioned. Hostel (2006) is uncompromising, a punch in the guts, and a comment on what some of the more disturbed wealthy think they can get away with, not the kind of movie I'm in the mood to rewatch often. Hostel is one of the few movies so brutal I'd group it with the New French Extremity films (Calvaire, Ils, Haute Tension, À l'intérieur, and Martyrs), Eden Lake (2008) also comes to mind. The Collector (2009) is a great blend of home invasion and slasher movie, a cat and mouse game that takes place in a house with a thousand traps. It's torture porn but its fast pacing keeps it rewatchable. Devil (2010) is the kind of movie that has a slow build-up, but once you know the twist, there's not much point in rewatching it. Escape Room (2019) and also its sequel Escape Room: Tournament of Champions (2021) lead the participants through several inventive escape rooms, offer enough twists, and should have a high rewatch value. I've heard good things about The Dare (2019) before and you confirmed that it should be added to the list of movies I plan to watch this month. Have you already seen theJapanese 2021 remake of Cube? I love the design of the rooms and Vincenzo Natali was even asked to create one of the rooms, but it's very, uhm... male-centric in a Japanese way? I love Cube 2: Hypercube, though I heard that some of the mathematicians in the audience were appalled that the movie gave up on the math.😅 A more recent movie with characters who find themselves in a game of fife and death is Una para mourir (Death's Roulette, 2023). It has a complicated back story I only got parts of, so this is definitely a future rewatch for me. I could mention La habitación de Fermat (Fermat's Room, 2007) that aged very well. Circle (2015) also uses a game mechanism, though it's so fast-paced you can hardly keep track with all the people dying. If you're looking for a movie that is less about the kills but comes with all the tension, and is about the life-and-death situation of getting a job you applied to and that you want under all circumstances, then I'd suggest Exam (2009).

I would actually like another Collector sequel, Saw has too many movies and I'm sort of over them. 😅
