I'm ok with a bit of random stuff here and there. Your saw has a riving knife to keep the kerf from closing on the blade, right? I (usually) use clamps, but not on warped and twisted boards. Those Steppach saws were sold in the US for a very short time and I missed out on buying one cheap. I did all of our kitchen cabinets out of Cherry and the doors in craftsman style joint. And working on plans for our trip to Naxos at the end of September. Going to stay in Koronos or Apeiranthos a few days then back to Naxos city. We don't get to stay as long as we would like as Americans don't get a month of vacation. As for modifying new tools.. yeah, all the time. Chinese economical tools are assembled kits you have to take apart to make them work. Just spent a couple hours on reworking the ball valves on a coolant system evacuation/refill kit as the one assembling it was a bit too generous with the sealant (got into a ball valve) and nearly destroyed it.. the whole thing wasn't tight enough to keep vacuum. Also got rid of unnecessary couplings while doing that, to have less potential leakage points.

@@RotarySMP It was a Myford ML7. A brand quite well known here in the UK. Myford lathes were specifically aimed at the hobby market and production started in the early post war era. @@RotarySMP Yes I've seen amazing things done on a Myford too, just not by me. I'm replacing it with a Warco "VS 1235 Vario". Warco (Warren Machine Tool Company) is a UK based supplier of Chinese imports. The VS 1235 model is so unusual that I don't know whether anyone else in the UK has one. It probably exists under a different brand but Warco do not actually have it in their range. The Machine I bought was a sample they got from China that they decided not to include in their range. It's just about the same size as their WM 290V with a slightly longer bed. It has a D1-4 camlock chuck, 2250rpm spindle with a 38mm bore. These features, the knock-down price and the general size of the machine were what attracted me to it.

I read this as 3.097 mm? (Unless the parallax is messing with us and that half tick is still buried, in which case 3.597) I guess as long as it's read the same way later it's OK. At 8:24 I read it as 3.182 mm, or a 0.085 mm difference from before. The screw head diameter looks around 6mm, suggesting M3x0.5, M3.5x0.6, or M4x0.7. The blade of your tracksaw needs cleaning (burn marks in your wood indicate this) and maybe even replacing with a proper aftermarket one (in case you still got the oem no-name blade on it). The teeth are getting coated with sap/gum/resin of the wood and needs cleaning. My saw (not Sheppach, but similar el-cheapo) did gum up so badly, the blade started to cut sideways and ripped into the rubber alignment fence.. which then also needed replacement. So yeah, clean the blade and or get a better one right away.
