I love that you mentioned that horizontal neck bands can be genetic. I can see them in my kindergarten picture, so they’re not just a result of age. On a different note, I’ve seen improvement with crepey texture on my neck with using a mild glycolic acid. I didn’t realize what a difference it was making until I stopped using it, and the crepiness returned.

I’m definitely guilty of neglecting my neck. I kept forgetting sunscreen on the back of my neck and chest. At 50+ the photo damage was very evident. Now I love a neck cream. I've tried the Strivectin but my current favorite is the DRMTLGY neck cream. It really improves the appearance of my neck. I also use HQ and 1-2 x a week a retinoid .. super irritating if I'm not careful. I also tried Trifarotene (retinoid) on my neck and chest. To help the pull of neck bands on my lower face I get platysmal band Botox once a year💜

The first few sentences in your video hit the nail on its head, so to speak. All my life, I focus on my face and my body. Then, just out of the blue, I've noticed my neck. It's awful. I'm in panic mode now. I have Turkey neck along with the crepey skin. It's a battle to minimise it, but I'm fighting a losing battle. I look forward to such videos like yours 😊

Hi Dr. Sam, thank you so much for this extremely detailed video : ) I saved it in my favourite skincare videos list! : ) I just saw your request on Instagram for topics to talk about. I would genuinely like a more in-depth video on how to use minoxidil. I see lots of videos on very useful yet basic information such as: "5% is also for women but can cause irritation". But I would love to have a more total overview for beginners. For example, 5% can be irritating, therefore, I am afraid to get started. What to do if you started and get an irritated scalp? Did you go through the initial hair loss phase for nothing and that's just it? What do you do then? And do you have to use minoxidil daily? I can imagine your hair might look greasy etc. so is it also effective if you use it a few times (3-4) per week the night before washing? I often see people in comment sections who would love to get started to tackle their insecurities but who are still hesitant because they are looking for answers to these kinds of questions. Thank you - as always - for being so kind to ask your viewers what questions are on their minds to help them out! Genuinely appreciate it : )

I've been using StriVectin for the past 2 months +, not every day, and I see a real and significant difference in the depth of the lines just below the base of my neck and just above my jaw line (I am overweight and have creases there). (Unfortunately, I don't see a difference in the crepey area in the middle of my neck.) I didn't know what to expect, and am really happy to see that the cream works. As per the instructions, I apply it from the bottom of the lines below my neck, and move upward to my jaws, rubbing it in over my jaw line. Maybe daily use would make a difference to the crepey skin.

I had fraxel dual done to my neck for texture mostly, and it left my skin looking slightly red, like a light sunburn. It’s been over a year at this point. I went back to the place that did the fraxel, and they suggested DermaV, which I have done one treatment. I can’t tell if it’s made much difference. I’m wondering if something like microneedling and light chemical peels would help over time. I just really want to be careful because my neck skin is so sensitive. I’ve taken really good care of my skin, including neck, overall by wearing daily sunscreen since I was in junior high, but my neck is definitely more crepey looking.

@@DELLRS2012 No problem. I’m not an expert but had bought it @ Costco years back & religiously used it for 8 weeks, & zero results! It’s nothing more than an overpriced moisturizing cream. A product I loved just simply for winter moisturizing was First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream. Don’t know if it had anti aging benefits but it sure did soak in nicely & kept my skin moisturized. Too bad it’s now so darn expensive! It’s the only cream that worked for me in the winter months! QVC used to sell it in great packages with auto-delivery. I always purchased it for like $40.00. That was 4-16oz tubs & 4-2oz hand creams to carry in your purse. Ever since First Aid Beauty Co., morphed into other forms of anti-aging products, the Ultra Repair Cream has become completely out of my price range. The lowest cost I have seen is $ 60.00 for 1 tub of 14oz. Ridiculous! Guess I’ll try Aveeno. I put tretinoin on my neck and it was horrible!! I had been using an OTC retinol for a while but needed something stronger for my neck acne. The tret irritated it badly after one use and it was red and scaly for about a week. I have been able to reintroduce it but with a moisturizer first and letting that dry for about ten min before I put the tret on. My face tolerates tret fine so I had no idea how hard it could be on the neck. My face skin tolerates tret with zero issues and no moisturizer is needed underneath. I do wonder if there is a good cleanser for neck acne. I have clear face skin but my neck acne is not good.

I’m having an irritated neck recently and also wondering if it is the tretinoin .05% that I mixed with cerave and applied to my neck and face. Face is fine, neck has been irritated and I can’t figure out why

@cindiqq it most likely is! It made my whole neck red and scaly looking. It actually is still healing since I posted this!

I’ve never seen anyone about my skin, as I get older I’m not even sure where to start. Do I go see a dermatologist, an esthetician, a medical spa? So many options makes it confusing and dermatologists seem to advertise more for rashes or eczema

There is no need for a separate neck cream. We age gracefully and a few lines on our neck isn't going to kill us. It's a money making market to promote neck creams and make women feel bad for wrinkles they may have. When I'm 70 I'm not expecting to have my neck look wrinkle free. Age gracefully and embrace your wrinkles. Not every line has to be erased. Not everyone can afford to buy separate products for different parts of the body.

Dr Sam: Would be very helpful if you would invest in a proper microphone for audio. As it is now, there is reverb in your audio which makes it extremely difficult for viewers to listen to. I am often unable to listen to an entire video of yours because of this.
