had my system installed in 2015, great unit...here's the trick...they say service is needed yearly for the warranty to be intact, but I took the time to fully read the owner's manual and warranty info...to my surprise it states service needed every 3 years for warranty purposes, of course they gave me crap when they called for the first needed service so I asked to speak with manager and explained exactly where it states 3 year service for warranty...he simply said they would call back in 2 years to schedule service...very well trained technicians come out and replace carbon filter with new carbon and inspect system which includes running regeneration check on unit...$278 on average every 3 years...very happy with Rainsoft unit

Wish I had seen this video a couple weeks ago. We also used Florida Energy Water and Air, and we just accepted the price they initially quoted. While my wife was talking to the salesman, I should have Googled the going price for the Rainsoft EC5 water softener and the 50 gallon Rheem hybrid water heater. I would have quickly realized they gave themselves about a $3000 profit for the entire purchase.

I too have a Rainsoft system on a well in North Florida. I do have to say the system itself is great runs great cleans the water really well we don't even drink bottled water anymore because our water taste better than bottled water however as he said the yearly maintenance fees or trips out and then delivering salt things like that not necessary don't even worry about that stuff do-it-yourself these things last 5 to 10 years without ever having to be serviced easily we've had ours for about 6 years now we've only had to replace the resin beads in the softener once and they came out and did that charge us $100 service fee and it was the rest of it was free of charge so again don't worry about the maintenance fees don't worry about the soap stuff yes he is correct that you do feel a little bit of sliminess and from someone who has talked to a dermatologist that is actually your natural oils and that is actually how you're supposed to feel when you're done once you dry off it goes away you no longer feel the slimy and it's actually much better for your skin I recommend just finding natural soaps and using other things to clean with rather than hard chemicals

So glad I found this video. They just did almost exact thing to me but when installer arrived they said they had sold me the wrong system. After speaking with my salesman he said he made an error and could sell me the more expensive system $4000 more. Gonna try Culligan. We have very hard water which I already knew.

We just moved. And bought a house with a rainsoft ec5. We are having issues with it not working. We called several local companies to work on it. They all said to call the company who installed it. No one local will work on rainsoft. The previous owner paid $11k for it. I got a quote to replace everhthing for less than $4k.

I have the same situation. Bought a house, moved in, my water was turning black because the Rainsoft softener hadn’t been maintained. I turned off the water to the system to bypass it and I’m thinking of removing it altogether. Nobody wants to service an already installed system. It’s more trouble than it’s worth since my water is now clear and tastes fine, even if it is hard.

From what I researched, they have a lifetime warranty, and that's everything, computer, cleaning system crystals.. no other company I saw has that. Other companies , culligan rents the softner, and you have nothing when your done. For me, yes its more expensive, but the lifetime warranty and putting my daughter on it so she has clean water forever, is worth the extra price. I know every state has different water, i like that i won't have to get new systems when they break down. yes do your research.
@JimORearsWackyWorld
@JimORearsWackyWorld 2 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching, @marysassara5471! It’s a limited lifetime warranty. It doesn’t cover everything. “RainSoft offers a limited lifetime warranty on all of its water treatment and air treatment products, including water softeners. The warranty covers defects in manufacturing and lasts for as long as the original purchaser owns the equipment. If a part is defective, RainSoft will either repair it or provide a replacement part for a fee that covers labor, handling, and packing. The warranty does not cover installation, transportation, or other claims.”

How often are you needing to change the filter and refill with salt? I think the sales guy we had yesterday is misrepresenting how much salt is needed and how often to change the filter, e.g. 2 years.
@JimORearsWackyWorld
@JimORearsWackyWorld Жыл бұрын
They would never give me a straight answer on changing the filter because the salt is supposed to clean the filter and prolong the life. As far as salt… it depends on the size of your canister. We usually use 4-5 bags and it lasts about 5 months. We buy our salt at Lowes, as it is about a 3rd of the cost that RainSoft wants to charge.

Those "o-rings" are next to inpossible for a homeowner to find and if you do happen to find the correct ones, they are about $75 for the set of 5. Make sure to install them correctly or you will have a massive water bill. Ive been in the water filtration industry for 13 years.

@baoanprounited
@baoanprounited 6 ай бұрын
@@Raizeph i did it with them. After purchase, i really like the system, my wife skin is usually dry and itchy after showers b4 install, after the installation, no more dry skin and itchiness, plus I dont have to carry cases of water anymore cuz it tastes as good as Costco water bottle. The filtered water is so good that i can drink it out of my tap and fridge, which is not possible b4. The RO needs maintenance every 12-18 months, but not the water filter EC5, according to the salesman. I think RainSoft have quality equipment, but the sales department could be better in transparency. For my experience, it was straightforward because at the beginning, i contacted Home Depot for the water filter system, and they dispatched RainSoft. The pellet salt i used was the Green Morton Salt one, not the Yellow, because it has 5in1 instead of 4in1, which is taste and rust protection for copper pipes. I dont have copper pipes, but i like the taste, so i went with the Green one. Price was 8600 if i signed up same day, after the sales man leave, its 10k, so it was a little pressure to sign up, but i saved 1400. Consider the price and the lifetime warranty, it worths the extra 1-2k just for the peace of mind. Yea its expensive, but worth it
