Beautiful bike! That model is one of the bucket list ones I want to build! I like his practical approach to the build spec👌 Watching footage of him at the end, shows just how strong of a rider he is, a machine!!!! Regarding tyre clearance, my 2011 Argon 18 is the same, 25mm max, even then, a ‘tall’ tyre like a GP4000s rubs, where as Vittoria Corsa’s just fit.

I'm a big fan of disc brakes but disc brakes most definitely require significantly more effort in keeping them in excellent working condition. I don't think Ineos switched their Pinarellos from rim to disc brakes because of neutral support as most of the peloton are on disc. It is almost impossible to put on another disc wheel that has never been adjusted on the same bike without suffering from disc rotor rub. I think switching from rim to disc actually made the job of neutral support more challenging as they now have to carry wheels with multiple rotor sizes.

Disc brakes system is a marketing gimmick.
@changrenyong76162 жыл бұрын
@@sbsb4995 I don’t think disc brakes on road bikes is a marketing gimmick. Disc brakes have much better all-weather performance that does not depend on the trueness of the wheel. On long descent, you also won’t have to worry about excessive heat destroying your carbon rims or causing the beads of the tires to come loose. And this is becoming more important, that you can use tires as wide as your bike frame allows as most rim brakes do not take tires wider than 28 mm. All of these advantages do come with extra maintenance to keep it from squealing and to prevent disc rotor rub. The latter is what bothers me the most. No matter what I do, the front disc rotor on my Venge Pro (with Shimano Ultegra Di2 groupset) will briefly rub against one of the brake pads after use. I hope this disc rub will be a thing of the past after I have upgraded to the new 12-speed Shimano groupset with more pad clearance.

I also have an old frame and was also having some clearance issue with 25mm tires. However, if you go with those newer and wider Wheelsets ( like 26mm external width ), then when you install the 25mm tires, the maximum protrusion is not that much. I managed to use 25mm tires with my older bike frame now.

difference between bb30 vs pf30 is mainly the absence of plastic shell holding the bb bearing in pf30. The bb30 normally has direct bearing mount. As far as memory serves me right lah, correct me if I'm wrong. Cheers.

In their default setups, yes, you got that right. The dimensional difference is in the shell diameter: 42 v.s 46 mm.

It is true that the tan walled tires are actually lighter. Francis Cade had a video on it. They weighed all black tires against the tan walled ones and the tanned walled ones are lighter. A lot of commenters say it is the reduced use of carbon black on the tan wall tires. That means the tan walls are actually sections of rubber that do not have carbon black. So if it is painted tan walls, the weight will higher or the same as an all black tire. So buyer beware. Not all tan wall tires are true tan wall tires.

Classic bike from cannondale. Easier to DIY as everything is external. Owner is practical and down to earth. Nice choice for him if he chooses the colnago c64 for his dream bike. Ride quality of that bike is another level. Oompa or anyone, are ceramic bearings really worth it ?
@OompaLoompaCycling2 жыл бұрын
When I bought my CK hubs I wasted my money on the ceramic bearings. I don’t feel a difference in performance. I still get dropped every damn ride. After that, when I bought my BBInfinite BB I opted for steel bearings and is still as smooth. I think most people (or at least me) have the misconception that ceramic bearings are smoother and will make you faster. Having said that, I believe there’s some science behind ceramic bearings… For an average joe like me I would never get ceramic bearings because of the marked up price.
