"The courses at the Irish Pagan School offer an in-depth approach to Irish paganism that is based on genuine history and folklore. There is so much here for curious learners of all levels to gain knowledge and insight on their spiritual paths while avoiding the misinformation that is sadly common in popular modern paganism. I have benefited greatly from the classes and look forward to taking more."

Listening to this conversation over the past 3ish years I've been thinking a lot about Christianity in the United States. American Jesus is so divorced from the Middle Eastern hippie. It's the most appropriated faith that I know of

I love how you have explained this Jon. ❤ When I first began with the IPS I knew nothing about modern Irish culture. My notions of it were stereotypical at best and based on the past not the here and now. I had only vague notions of what the Troubles were about and there was a lot of allusion to events in the classes I was not able to grasp. I also couldn’t connect my heart and intellect if that makes sense. As I grew in my private research and taking as many classes as I could I realized an immersion in the present as well as the past was necessary. Now I feel a grounding and a balance that I didn’t have before. It also helps me be mindful so I don’t so often step unwarily into cultural appropriation practices and it also helped me understand colonialism and entitlement on a level I never had the awareness or imagination about before. I don’t say as an American I’m perfect at all this but you and Lora have taught me to be ever mindful and consistent. I relate to my Gods in a much fuller more well rounded way now and our relationship is always growing and is no longer stagnant like it was in the beginning. My heart and intellect work together better now. By understanding the Irish culture through as many facets and perspectives as I can, both past and present, I am learning to be the best Bean Feasa I can possibly be and am living my best life in the bargain. The Irish Gods who have called me to their service wish for me to work for them not simply worship them, and to do that I have to understand the culture from as many angles as I can so that the work to be done for Themselves is productive and beneficial.

I greatly appreciate the work done by IPS, but yea, sometimes certain topics really rub me the wrong way. After seeing this video I can clearly see how it is a matter of misunderstanding and academic colonial attitudes on my part. My apologies for that but this video, the straight forward no bells and whistles approach really helped me understand. Thank you.

Thank you Jon for the video. This is a question I've pondered more lately, and this came at the right time for me. I live in the US, and was raised evangelical Christian, and left that faith a few years ago. I have Irish ancestry, but only after going back 10-12 generations. I felt drawn to Irish Paganism, but felt like a poser because I'm not in Ireland, and with an ancestry that far off, any pagan roots probably washed away by Christianity before my ancestors moved to the states, what connection could I possibly have? You've helped me to see that my draw towards Irish deities and spirituality, which led me to your school and inspired me to read and take in as much information about the roots of it all, is enough. Go raibh maith agat

Not all Irish people agree with you. Some are very anti what you are for, and they are truly Irish. Just because you and your "followers" want to change things to be "back to the Earth hippies" doesn't mean that Ireland will return to being pagan. Most Irish are lapsed Roman Catholic or non religious and want to live a normal everyday life. I personally like to hear your stories of Irish history, but to me it's only that, history.

You want history? Here's some 🎉 Daniel O'Connell said that as soon as you start opressing and/or supporting the opression of people of colour you are no longer Irish.
