I rebuilt my 440 Impact last night. This am I saw a puddle of oil and was disappointed. I knew it was nothing major to the function of the airless, but frustrating nonetheless. I searched and searched and you are the only person I found with a video that explained that minor oil leaks are normal and no big deal. Last night prior to water testing, I pumped the oiler button, 5-6 times which built too much pressure and caused the leak. I think. I manually oiled the top packing and am going to refill the tank to see if it leaks again without pumping it. If so, I’ll just deal with the leaks or manually oil my machine and leave the reservoir empty. Again, thank you so much. Crazy that there isn’t more info on this. Subbed and liked.

Hello Chris, great video as always. I do the same thing to my sprayer and it always works great. I take it a step further and spray down what is it outside of the pump because I like it looking nice, but I’m not a professional painter only use it occasionally. On another note, I’ve been buying many items from your store and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your awesome customer support and really great products!

I have a titan 440 impact I bought new in 2016...I've sprayed approximately 2000 gallons through it and have never repacked it....I make sure it's lubed really well and I clean it really well with soap and hot water after use and leave a little mineral spirits in it between jobs....great little sprayer

Good advice, like u said, with daily use thing really do get gummed up. I like to soak stuff in Krud kutter to keep the parts clean. Wd40 is a great idea too

Thanks. Spraying a thin oil like WD40 into a gun that dispenses water-based paint is not even something I would have thought of. I guess it drips off or isnt enough to affect the latex? Thanks for doing these. I can imagine it might seem like pedestrian stuff to someone like yourself, but for someone getting into it, upping your game, or maybe upgrading equipment these videos explain good practice and they help a lot.

I'm sure you probably have said in another video but the most important thing I ever learned was to cycle either paint thinner or diesel into the pump after you clean it core check does not last and even a couple of day can rust the bearing in the check valve and its off to the repair shop

TSL just keeps the rod wet so paint doesn't dry up on it and damage the packings. The packings are pre lubed during the repack. No liquid or lube is getting back into the pump from the upper packings. I've repaired these for 8 years and am certified by Graco.

Do I need to use lube on mine? It's just a homeowner avanti similar to the x7. My manual says nothing but using storage fluid. Same with my handheld Graco 360. All it talks about is the pump armor storage fluid

@@2010stoof Your manual doesn't mention it because you don't have access to lube the rod. Same with your handheld. The sprayer he's showing is a contractor model for heavier use. I would worry more about leaving water in it or running out of paint while spraying.

My old 440 lasted 5 outdoor seasons just from a few drops of oil every morning. Then I repacked it just because of age and gallons gone through the sprayer.

Better to much oil as to less. And nice tip with the hose management and the electric cable direktly on the handle. I oil my gun same and even the two bolts from the trigger that push the valve back.

My manuals say nothing about lubing. Just about the storage fluid. Mine is homeowner unit and my other is the Graco 360 so maybe it falls into the category of not needing it

Chris…. Planning to paint my house after all your videos. Seems doable now.. 1400 sq. ft. I’m up in the air about just rolling it vs. power rolling it vs. spraying it. If it were you, would you just avoid all the clean up and prep and roll it? I have 9 to 12 ft ceilings so the power roller is my gut feel. Can you do a vid on scenario’s like this? Someone on their own in a smaller home? You probably have a vid on that already, but when I scrub for it, not seeing it. Hope you read the posts and can offer direction. BTW, keep putting those mile on that Cervelo!

I got a 440i, filled the res up with oil, after a week it was completely empty, it had drained all out onto my floor, don't know what the problem is so now I just squirt in just enough to press the button

is it possible to leave a fully loaded laytex paint airless sprayer (HF-Avanti AV_APS1) over night 12 hours. im a DYI and paint my own house once every so often.

Yes, just keep the paint source covered tightly and remove any skin on the paint if any has formed. Of course release the pressure from the system too or at absolute minimum if you want pressure in it, have it turned down all the way before shutting it off.

In the beginning, he says some of the lower grade sprayers don't have oil ports, or replaceable pumps, packs, etc. That they are use til they don't work. But you might be able to spray wd-40 on all moving parts, will help.

A painter once told me it's OK to keep paint inside the sprayer as long as you keep it under pressure overnight so no iar gets into the system and dries out the packing, etc. It made sense to. This goes against what you said in this video. Is it OK to leave paint in the rig overnight like that?

No, it adds extra wear to the rod for titans, and if it's a graco it adds extra wear to the sleeve. Also, the paint can start to set up even in the pump overnight. I get pumps that sat overnight all the time in my shop. I'm certified with Graco and Titan as a repair tech.

I had a 5900 mounted to my pickup truck with a 100 gallon tank. We leave the system the way it is including releasing the pressure. Packing lasts roughly 20k gallons for us or more. We do however have an additional filter on a custom pickup tube from the tank. Some of our guys forget to lube the packing too. My 5900 motherboatd died and the engine was on its way out, finally, after nearly a decade of service sitting outside in the elements and the system left with paint in it. What I'm saying is they're really tough machines. Just make sure to keep the paint source sealed or even install a filter inline on the pickup tube. Heck... we use a modified custom made pressure washer hose on a hose reel instead of a typical hose and zero issues; way easier to roll up if you have a couple swivels on it. 😏 Our job is very interesting though to say the least.
