I agree, for home usage I prefer stacking, visually pleasing, accurate amount and if stacked off the ground with mild winters it last for years. For sales I understand the piles idea, moving the inventory. I’d like to know how much time is used loading from a pile vs from a stacked row. 🇺🇸👏🏻

I imagine loading time difference between a stack and pile is nearly negligible. I'll find out in the fall!

I use pallets on the ground and ends. I drive T posts on the end to hold them up. For the long sides I use 16’ cattle panels with T posts every 6’ or so. Then just pile in the split wood.

consider building several 1/12, 1/6, 1/4, 1/3, 1/2 and 1/1 cord empty bins that customers can pick the wood themselves from the large piled bin to fill and measure and have several tossed bins they can choose instead.

@@daveyh-w6q Brilliant! I like to keep the wood for ourselves or give to those in need. Treat it like a commodity we collect.

I love Levi’s words of encouragement toward the end of the video! Great production and I appreciate you sharing your knowledge! Looking forward to seeing how this method “stacks up” against your previous operation!

Great job. We do both stack and pile. We personally don't burn wood (other than in the fire pit) we produce to sell between 70 and 100 full cord per year. No giant bins for me though, they certainly would mold in the bottom as we don't have a prairie for our wood. 👍👍

new subscriber here nice pile of firewood. I watch chris as well and if you are in the wide open it should work just fine to pile. I piled my boiler wood for this year and it is burning great

Cordwood is measured in the round cut at 4 ft. In lenghth. Then measures 4'x4'x8'. Maine has a law for firewood dealers. A thrown cord measures 180 cu. ft. like you stated.😊

i give my customers 8 yards for a cord comes out a little more than a cord when stacked but cheaper than paying people 25 an hour to stack and unstack

I stack because it’s easy to see exactly how much wood I have… I’d have to recalibrate to have a visual sense of quantity in heap form. I expect your heap will dry just fine and save the stacking time, at the expense of footprint size and aesthetics. FWIW, my watch time from subscribers is also around 3% of the total watch time. Keep it up!

It'll dry just fine. I use IBC totes and do not stack in them, just loosely toss. Saves a ton of time.
