I think it is different having boys and girls to an extent but fundamentally, the worry is the same: something happening to them.

So heres my pov. I grew up with my little sister in the house. My half brother is 9 years older than me, he also lived with his mum so i didnt grow up with a boy in my house other than my dad. I have a little boy. I have no idea about little boys. However my son also has autism. Im trying to raise a good human. And im not saying that because of gender neutral stuff or anything. Im saying because boy or girl, im rasing a good human being, a kind human being, thoughtful, mindful. But heres my issue. No one else is. Parent today think that happens by nature and sure. To an extent but also it needs to be taught. If a kid does something that as an adult wouldnt pass explain that to them in a way that they understand. When i say as an adult wouldn't pass i dont mean having them act mature. Their children. Be kids. But for example. My son was playing with around 5 boys. 1 boy called 3 of them over one being my son and you could tell they were talking about the 1 kid on his own. When me and my son went home (i waited as to not embarrass him) i explained to him how it looked and how his friend probably felt and what he was more than likely thinking. My son felt bad, which of course isnt my goal, my goal is for him to understand others feelings because of his autism he can sometimes miss things like that. In my opinion im only stopping bad behaviour, but im watching for bad behaviour to correct and parents arent doing that anymore. Its like they cant even be bothered to punish bad behaviour they just want the kids outside. It kills me because i remember learning a lot of life lessons from my parents.

You're a good parent, don't stop what you're doing your son will turn out a lovely young man. There are a lot of ignorant parents today, hopefully Karma will come to them,

My boy and my girls are very different. They need to be parented differently because they behave differently.

Already made a comment. Making another. my sons 9. I literally know very little about boys coming of age. but not just that the freedom thing. He asked to go to the school which is just a 10 minute walk. But i said no because down our street there are so many people i know that are going to be there to see if something happens. At the school there isnt, also very close to a main road. The fear of him getting kidnapped, but not just that. I live in a tiny village. The school has 27 kids total including the nursery. The classes are p1-3 and then p4-7. There are two main teachers that's it. Its so small. But the council have been moving people into the village thag should not be around children. So again small village less than 800 people. I cannot let him out of my sight or reach. I cant.

You have to do what you feel happy about. Take him to school and don't worry about doing it.
