Well, my motorcycle broke down today at the bottom of the hill near my house and the only way to get it home was to push it, so yes, sometimes you really do have to work hard to get somewhere
@justaskuksta791611 ай бұрын
00:05 The idea that you have to work hard to get somewhere is biased and favors Western people. 02:57 Non-narcotic Shamanism is viewed as decadent and less dependable compared to narcotic Shamanism. 08:54 The video discusses four abysses - space, death, psychedelic experience, and dying - and the importance of unifying them through the integration of the psilocybin or tryptamine experience. 11:49 The intellectual edifice of the past thousand years has ignored the possibility of a parallel universe 17:44 The soul has been banned from Western thinking for centuries, but it is essential for familiarizing ourselves with it. 20:25 The self symbolizes alienation and potential for mankind, disguised as extraterrestrial beings. 25:27 Engaging in a dialogue with the overmind allows a person to transcend their historical context. 27:59 Mind as a first cause in telekinesis. Dreams are a parallel continuum of experience. 33:01 Familiarize yourself with the after-death body to avoid confusion and make a clean break during death. 35:29 Human evolution stopped 100,000 years ago, but cultural evolution continued. 40:41 The main point is that human history is about recovering the lost information that humans are durable, and psychedelics can help reveal the nature of the afterdeath state. 43:16 Understanding the logos and experiencing tryptamine-induced ecstasy can lead to personal transformation and societal change. 48:15 Moving at the speed of light eliminates the experience of time. 50:45 Transition to space and technological conquest will lead to the interiorization of art and release of human imagination. 55:40 Using shamanic technology to access information stored in molecular structures. 58:10 Cultivating the soul through Shamanism and psilocybin can transform mankind and society. 1:03:32 Psilocybin provides immense amounts of visual information compared to other hallucinogens. 1:06:13 Psychedelic drugs provide a unique way to access information beyond language. 1:10:59 Our psychedelic experiences or dream experiences help us connect with an overarching consciousness. 1:13:24 Humanity's transformation into a superconducting overmind spacecraft is causing a unique transition in history. 1:18:39 Time is a fluctuating density of probability. 1:20:59 The entry of the species into hyperspace and the collapse of the state vector. "... whenever I am confronted with opposites is to try and unify them, to create a coincidentia oppositorum - as was done in alchemy; to not force the system to closure but to try and leave the system open enough so their differences can resonate and become complementary rather than antithetical." -- From Heraclitus to Nietzsche, found in the writing of Carl Jung, Aldous Huxley, Louis Jorges Borges. Buddhism, Taoism, Hinduism and the theology of Thomas Aquinas. Near every field of science... - It is this idea of the unity of opposites, the paradoxical nature of Nature which I feel might just be the most crucial and profound of all ideas.

I like Terence McKenna and listen/read quite a bit. I find it pretty hypocritical of him to demonize science, which is a good faith humanitarian effort to understand the world. Is it purely through our subjective experience? Of course not, and that's the point. I don't understand what his argument is other than we need more woo-woo thinking, which may be spiritually gratifying in a sense, but is truly untractionable as a collective effort to pragmatically discover new things about the world.

@Paul_Palma11 ай бұрын
I think it's spelt with a C, chiliocosm, meaning a collection of many worlds. Seems to be a Buddhist concept especially when used in Trichiliochosm from Mahayana Buddhism in which the universe is said to be comprised of 3000 clusters of world-systems each of which consists of a thousand worlds. It's a big place! :) Hope this helps.

I am so sorry, so full of contrary ideas and notions... But in my mind, what "we" get so wrong on our individual human journey, is, that we get so caught up on the PRICE of things... or the COST of living... And to me, taking drugs, any kind or any type, simply tends to mask the obvious while temporarily allowing one to "escape" reality or bend experience of the inner working of the brain-- but only until "we" "come down"-- and return to hard realities of day to day existence.... then the need to escape returns... and leave again on that bus as soon as possible...?? What is a major wrong, at least to my mind, is that we tend not to value... VALUE... but we tend to reward and envy those who can afford things at any cost or price... The underlying envy is that those who are rich can do anything they want, get away with anything, and generally are perceived as being cool... and being cool is a form of worship, especially from those who are not cool... (do you see?) In the end, we need to all VALUE each other... not for what we have or do, but rather to love us all like we are all both Mother and Father... and that, my friends is FREE -- which is, the antithesis of SELLING... right???

@eugenefanboy4478 Жыл бұрын
He doesnt mean a miracle as in a physical anomaly. Like he said, it's not just a physical world, a world of matter. He's talking about the miracle of humans realizing the Truth of science. Science for what is is and not what is seen as. Because we can't keep evolving with our technology (we all die), if we can't understand the our ego and our fake manifestation of matter.

Wise words but … that’s not a viable option in today’s world. If you don’t work, you become homeless. I can go deep into transcendental meditation and reach Samhadi and I enjoy it but the world doesn’t stop just because I have. I love Terrence but he was never really practical
@artemisXsidecross Жыл бұрын
Being practical is highly over rated, Galileo and Einstein were both thought to be not practical for their insight. Galileo was placed under house arrest, and Einstein wrote his epic papers on Brownian Motion and Special Theory of Relativity as a mere patent clerk because he was thought not smart enough to even teach science. Courage and being practical hardly share the same time and space ✘

Does he say "don't work" ? If so I haven't reached that part. All I've heard so far is about mistaking HARD work as something better. And "hard" is an entirely subjective term. Plenty of people in the world live off of easy work. Also subjective, but a lot of work isn't necessarily hard or easy, it's just mundane.
@artemisXsidecross Жыл бұрын
@@FoursWithin The value of work is always a non-absolute. Herman Melville who now is well known for his writing was not when he published. His most famous book Moby Dick was poorly reviewed and sold few copies when published. His short story Billy Budd was found as a manuscript in a bread box after his death. Was Melville’s work value different in the mid 19th century than the 20th century?
@russellm7530 Жыл бұрын
At 21:41 he admonishes masculinity, why? I've noticed a few other talks where he has a very negative view of masculinity, of family, of humanity and praises depopulation. I've heard some claim he is cia propaganda. Seems like as soon as I was getting into some of what he was saying he lost me.
@SoyElta Жыл бұрын
He claims that dominator culture is a manifestation caused by capitalism. He wrote a book called "archaic revival" where he advised people to engage non "productive" genuine first hand culture "play sports, dance, sing, play instruments, gastronomy, shamanic ecstacy" He isn't advocating against masculinity as a concept. He is saying in Daoist terms, there is too much yang, not enough yin. Keep in mind he was raised as an Irish Catholic in a very strict household, so when he talks about dominator culture he has a very specific lense.
@FoursWithin Жыл бұрын
He's not admonishing masculinity he's critiquing an overbalance of it. Without a decent understanding of psychology, philosophy, and history much of his message will be contorted and misunderstood. You either need to read the books that influenced him or listen to a lot of his talks to get a basic grasp of his particular philosophical orientation. The original claims that he's cia propaganda are by clownish halfwits who misinterpreted a joke he told. Nothing more. Terrence is a complete anti-authoritarian. His message makes that more than clear.
@FoursWithin Жыл бұрын
And to answer your question of why . When he speaks of the overbalance of masculinity he's talking of what is now is often referred to as toxic masculinity; over aggressiveness and the encouragement of violence, fear of showing weakness , inability to discuss emotions ,sexual entitlement and it's path to sexual violence., ect...
@hast3033 Жыл бұрын
Because masculinity, as it were often potrayed in American culture, was of the 'suit man,' whose detached spirit made him a fierce and mechanical warrior who sought to subdue the unruly natural world, and make it conform to the rationalized will of an overly-inflated ego identification.
@artemisXsidecross Жыл бұрын
McKenna’s argument was against Patriarchy and the dominator culture that written’s history of 5000 years documents. You might want to look into the recent book: “Eve: How the Female Body Drove 200 Million Years of Human Evolution” by Cat Bohannon who is a researcher and author with a Ph.D. from Columbia University in the evolution of narrative and cognition.
