I bought my first camera at Two Guys in Kearny NJ , a Kodak Instamatic x15 for $17,99 with flash cubes, back in 1971, I was 20 yrs old. PD: I still have it somewhere in the attic. I came across it the other day and showed it to my wife, we were already married back then. 😂

In the early 1980's,when I got out of the navy,I went to work as a portrait photographer in department stores in the NYC area. It would be my job as a photographer to go in a store,set up a portable studio that I carried in my car,and shoot family portraits.Afterwards,in about 2 weeks,the salesman would come back to the store and sell the portrait packages. Two guys was a big client of ours.

Decades ago once a month or so my family and I would pile into the car and head to Two Guys in Union, NJ. One time we’re driving up and my dad misses the entrance ramp. So he decides to go in up the exit ramp. As we’re driving up a car, going out the exit ramp is beeping its horn. As the two cars come abreast the driver of the other car yells at my dad, “This is only one way!” My dad yells back, “I’m only going one way.” and proceeds to drive on. I busted a gut laughing my ass off.

We had Two Guys in our area. Fridays or Saturdays with my family we would go shopp there. Again like JM Fields was a great store. Not only we bought clothes, but there was also supermarket. All in one. I still have some items from there. I miss those golden memories. I wish they would come back and stay forever 😢🎉❤

Two Guys was right next to EJ Korvette on Rt.22 Mountainside, NJ. Two giant chain stores of their time. Spent many, many hours around the holidays at these two stores. Great memories.

It was 1973 and South Gate California. The Two Guys there once had the Brady's signing autographs and promoting their record album. It was Barry Williams, Greg, Christopher Knight, Peter, Mike Lookinland, Bobby and Susan Olsen, Cindy, the only Brady girl there. I was 11 years old and really ticked off Barry. I got up on this table behind him and started breathing down his neck, calling him Greg. He looked at me like he wanted to hit me. I'm lucky he didn't.

Two Guys was a big part of my childhood and adolescence. I nostalgically remember checking out the latest Rubber Uglies toys, Hot Wheels and Johnny Lightning cars, and later BTO records at our local (MacArthur Road, Whitehall, PA) Two Guys store, while my mom shopped for groceries, clothes, and sundry items. There also was an electric bass guitar for sale there that I lusted after for many years. Finally bought myself one some fifty years later, remembering that very first bass guitar. I didn't appreciate then that I was shopping in one of the first superstores, anticipating modern Walmarts and Targets by decades!

My mom would always do her weekly shopping at the Union store every Friday night and in the 60’s when we were young would often bring one of us along. got to eat in the snack bar and loved the walk up and down the toy section plus watching color tv’s😸👍

Zickcermacity Omg I definitely remember Bradlees, Woolworth and Caldor's. I used to love the carousel inside of Caldor's, and I used to love to go to the Nathan's inside when my mom used to take me and my older sister shopping there. I used to love Kmart also, and the horse rides they used to have outside that you could ride for a quarter. I used to like to ride those as a kid, and my mom used to also take me and my older sister to Kmart a lot.

when I was young, my dad used to buy christmas gifts for me and my brother Pierre, at that store. Sometimes he would bring these huge red bags, but that is when he got gifts from Macys, or Sears. But Two guys had a lot of good stuff.

They had 4 stores in Baltimore, 3 are still standing, but subdivided. Other than groceries and dress clothes my family pretty much got everything at Two Guys and Montgomery Ward.

In the mid 70's, all through high school, I worked at Two Guys. The store located in Marlton NJ. I started in the record department. Helping customers with their music questions and allowed to play any album or artist I chose. Steely Dan, Steve Miller Band, ELO, just to name a few. I mean, what more could a teenager ask for? I even got employee of the month! 😎 Definitely a blast from the past. Unfortunately, they shut down the record department and moved me to the pharmacy counter. Where I once waited on Jerry Garcia. He apparently was taking advantage of our huge vitamin sale. Go figure. Eventually, I was promoted to the courtesy deck and cash office. I worked there up untill they closed in 1980. Funny, I still have my "employee of the month" pin. 🤣 Thanks for sharing.

We used to go to the North Bergen, NJ, store when I was little. For some reason, all I remember is that I loved their hot dogs, and I also loved to go bowling in the back!

I lived in Bordentown, NJ from 1958 to 1964. My parents shopped there frequently. Although I was born in 1957, I have many memories of that store. It was like Kmart but smaller. We moved to Virginia and I saw hundreds of TV ads for Two Guys on the Baltimore, MD TV channels 50 miles away during the 1970's. We did not have Two Guys in Virginia. During 1981, I saw many boarded up Two Guys stores in New Jersey. Two Guys parent company, Vornado, is in business in Virginia in Crystal City and Oakton VA. The old Two Guys store in Bordentown became a Bradlee's. It closed in 2001. The Bradlee's signage was still up in 2019.

Wow. Two Guys! I remember very well. Back in 70's. We would shop at the Hagerstown, Maryland Store. In the South end of town. We would go there on Friday eves. That was back before Malls. We would finish up in the store then we would sit in the parking lot and watch the South High Football games across the street. Fond memories.

There also was a Two Guys in Union, NJ on Rte 22. It was a great store. Every time we went, we would always hear over the PA system "Calling Mr. Winkler....... Calling Mr. Winkler.......Mr. Winkler, please........"

@@EricCProductions76 If I may, for the record, recall how the RTE 22 Union store had easy access from Rte 22 and Morris Avenue. Entering the store from the south side, to the left was their book department which was packed with good stuff. In those days, circa 1969, science writer Isaac Asimov had a wide variety of science and science fiction for 60 cents. His thick books were $1.25. Rachel Carson was popular, so was Herman Hesse everywhere on the shelf. Walt Kelly's "Pogo" books were available, Charles Schutz's "Peanuts". Hagar the Horrible were present. This was when Mad Magazine was actually funny and well-drawn. Further down was the electronics/stereo department, and over to the right were all the fish tanks and aquarium supplies next to the athletic needs. The middle of the store had clothing (just male and female). I bought a brick-red pair of form-fitting bell-bottom dress pants which still looks smart. I still have them. Their record department had the vinyl 33s and top 20 hits in 45 rpms. This was when the Moog music became popular (Switched-On-Bach) and they would play the album you were interested in over the department PA. Where else did you see Selma Diamond records? And finally, on the left side by the south entrance were the hobbies like airplane and car models and "Rat Fink" models. Two-Guys was a good store and will all the stuff they had, the store never looked "junky" or trashy. If they didn't have what you wanted, you might go to top-notch stores like Sears, Korvettes, Harmony House (they had every vinyl record under the sun), Circuit City, R&S, Channel Lumber, Jasco Tile, or Federated Electronics, all on Rte 22. Retailers did a good job then. So did Manager Mr. Winkler of Two Guys.

@@rwhite1846 Do you remember their book department? It was good!! Man alive!! The prices were usually 75 cents for their Bantam Books!!. This was when science writer Isaac Asimov had books galore on their shelves, when Hermann Hesse was popular, and of course Jacqueline Susann who wrote Valley of the Dolls in 1966. I also picked up many Pogo Books by cartoonist Walt Kelly. Those were good days!!!! By the way, I never did get to ever see Mr. Winkler......

The Langhorne/Levittown, Pennsylvania, Two Guys, part time, mostly after school for the better part of three years beginning in 1972. Utility man, sometimes a shopping cart wrangler, floor sweeper, floor polisher. My code was 800 I think. 601 was the vending machine person. '601 to the Front End!', usually to unjam a cup that had fallen off-angle and got stuck. Then the customer had to watch the crushed ice and soda fall onto the drain grid. The last iteration of what I did at Two Guys was truck unloading. Supposedly, our location was the only store in the chain without a loading dock and a fork lift. Our crew of three dedicated unloaders took everything off of the trailers by hand. Sending returns back was the reverse of that process. I remember that one key facet of the process was making sure we had an adequate supply of flat trucks on-hand to get the merchandise to the departments quickly. We unloaded trailers whenever they arrived; before and during store hours. Hot shipments (usually clothing and electronics) were sometimes taken off the trailers right in front of the store even during business hours. Hot!, hot!, get it inside quickly. Lots of fun as I think of it now. In the morning, before going on-the-clock, we unloaders would gather for our Two Guys breakfast. Two eggs, any style, toast, hash browns and coffee for $0.99. In memory those breakfasts were pure ambrosia. The kitchen workers at the snack bar were cheerful and friendly. Fine memories of working at Two Guys from Harrison back in the day.

Two Guys evolved into Vornado Reality Trust, a major commercial and retail property company, the retail side closed down and store sites developed into other retail uses. They also spun off the Vornado fan company (still a brand today) that was used by the founders as a 'shell company' for the retailer. The Two Guys store in Totowa, NJ has an interesting history. The company owned the property. It was a 'superstore' with a full grocery department. For years it had a carousel (later removed for a carpet and flooring department). They had a separate building for tires and other automotive items. I remember begging my parents to buy the hot pretzels any time we went there (like 3 for 50 cents). Some departments were subleased to other companies. The jewelry department was run by a family who would be connected with the creation of Home Depot. It became a Bradlees stores, that moved to an extension of the buildings and the original Two Guys footprint became and is still is a Home Depot.

Most if not all of the Two Guys here in California became FedMart stores. FedMart was kind of a pre-cursor to what WalMart is today in that it sold just about everything. I worked for FedMart back in the early 80 as a Courtesy Clerk until they closed in 1982.
