The general principle for musicals is that a character should switch to song when their feelings are so strong that they can no longer be expressed by mere speech. So in "real life" the characters aren't actually singing, the actors are just doing it so that you, the viewer, can understand the feelings of the character.

Don’t know if you will see this, but there are 2 types of music in musicals: Diegetic - means there is a reason to be singing, like they are putting on a show, singing in a choir, etc Non-diegetic - means, as someone else said, the characters burst into song because of their intense emotions, but it’s basically ‘imaginary’. And often musicals combine both kinds (but not always)

Consider watching Team StarKid musical parodies. They are fun and different and I think you may find that you surprisingly like it. Since you have seen Glee, just know that Darren Criss (who plays Blaine in Glee) portrays Harry Potter in their A Very Potter Musical trilogy that parodies the films.

Check out Tick Tick Boom! followed by Rent. You'll see a different kind of musical for both of them with not your typical songs. And then on to In the Heights and Hamilton if you haven't seen them already. Not all musicals lean in on the Camp. Some do. Some are unfortunately campy without meaning to be. Glad you liked the show, sorry I missed the original posting.

You would have been fine on this copyright wise to have the volume up - just a suggestion but if you are that concerned do something with the background but yeah, this is a very old movie now not recent plus other reactors have done this and kept the volume up and not been taken down etc.

@@RLucas3000 l have seen other reactors do this one in full vision and it still remaining on their channel so l wouldn't agree with your assessment of all the time...as l said this is a old movie now so perhaps if anyone were to get a copyright, it would be once in a while random. Certainly not all the time and apart from all else could have done what l said instead.
