I always notice heavy breathing from my fish after Heavy feeding of fish stuffs Some worse than others. My tire track looks like he’s dying sometimes. but he’s fine after a while Vic I wouldn’t worry

I had an iridescent shark. Was about almost 2 feet in length. Ate pellets only. Would breathe heavily. Clean water. Two 50% water changes every week. I think that’s just in their nature.

Interesting. Thank you. I can't say ours breathe too heavy after eating pellets, which is their usual diet. They seem to only take fish as a preparation to the spawning season.

I appreciate all suggestions. IMHumO Rod knows a ton about fish but he is first and foremost a businessman. A very, very busy one too :) OFR are true fish heads. Incomparable.

I only have one iridescent shark at a foot and a half. My red tail gourami killed my albino shark .. don't know why. But they never eat cut fish only pellets. But my koi definitely breath heavy after they eat as part of their digestive process I believe..

Thank you. Yes, some fish do that but this is close to an extreme example, and only after feeding on fish. They most normally eat only pellets and never breath heavy after the pellets.

Yeah I find it strange that they're even taking the fish because I put cut fish in there because I have a big sleeper goby that eats cut fish but he won't touch it only eats the pellets

Better quarantine the iridescent shark. It's breathing heavily unlike the other fishes. Maybe giving it oxytetracycline like you did before? If it's not the ph maybe it's bacterial attacking the lungs.

They have been doing this for many years, which is breathing heavy for 1-2 days after eating fish. It doesn't sicken them or kill them. This is not a sickness but if it's a stress to them, I'd like to learn and then avoid it.
