im curious why you mixed your new healthy batch of gulpers with the sick ones, why is that?
@Fish-Story9 сағат бұрын
I tried to explain it in the video where the new 3 were introduced to the old 6. I thought I had already killed the lice and gill flukes if there were any. It doesn't look like the new guys contracted any lice. But anyway, the prevailing thought was that something could have been very wrong with the first batch, like damaged gills from the parasites. We tested it with these 3 new gulpers and it was a negative.

Finally! I have long awaited seeing this video, and now I can also show it to Liam for his second presentation which should be under a week away:) Their appetites never fail to amaze, and all that food is great fuel for growing into true river monsters:) Since they were reported at 4.5 feet in the August 27 video, I thought they would be at least 5 feet now instead of presently 4.5 feet. Was 4.5 feet wrong for August 27? The title though has something the video could have elaborated on. Karlson and Frekenbock? Do tell about the back story behind those names please:) Which reminds me, speaking of names and back stories, you will hear the back story behind my earlier suggestion to name one of them Gabriel when I make the video with Liam: I am certain that back story will greatly entertain you:)
@Fish-StoryКүн бұрын
Sorry, something had always been in the way. These numbers are very approximate. Perhaps they were a few inches shorter than 4.5ft in Aug and now perhaps they are a few inches longer. They are hard to measure, so I just eyeball them. The names are taken from a children's book by en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astrid_Lindgren and a Soviet cartoon "The Junior and Karlson" based on the book. If curious, do a search on it.

Mine are the same size and do the same thing. I treated them with paracleanse, expel-p, dimilin-x and maracyn. The amount of worms that passed was impressive. They took small pieces of shrimp in the beginning but won’t now. They were in bad shape for a while and had to force feed 2 times and haven’t tried again. They will eat live but that’s a pain. They are in a quarantine tank and I put a background on it and put some real wood in the tank for hiding and to lower ph. I put some fake plants in also and they didn’t care. One of the plants started floating on the top and they definitely prefer to swim under it.

@Fish-StoryКүн бұрын
I am sure Wesley had done it and I assume PF have not. I agree, they do look better. I need all of them to start eating well, only 5 do so far out of 9. They most resolutely show no interest in any sort of hiding behavior whatsoever.

Try a different tank? I would if I had a reason to suppose this might help. All our tanks have the same water and the same bacterial and parasitic cultures.

Depends on size. When they first come, it is critical to get them starting to feed on whatever they'd accept, bloodworms for small fish work usually very well. We never offer live feeder fish. Usually from bloodworms we proceed to fish cuts and pellets.

Depends on your goal. If just any, try your LFS. Our LFS sells them for $18, lower then the lowest $26 I've found online - from Seagrest retail via Bluegrass Aquatics. If you want one with good genetics - you[d need to search out a wild caught one, which is not easy, because fish don't come with a UPC code and you may be cheated. Only a vendor of the highest reputation might be trusted to bring you a w/c one.
