Join us in Gettysburg Pa at The Historic Dobbin House built in 1776. We will go to the Springhouse Tavern inside the Dobbin House for lunch. We have been at the Dobbin House many times and have never been disappointed before. This time we will order two items we have never tried before to show you more items on the menu. I doubt if I will ever make it there since I am in SW OK but I can dream can't I? lol This place is fantastic...the waiters/waitresses even dressed for the time period which lends to the rustic atmosphere which is rich in history. I absolutely loved the dark atmosphere with real candles?? wow. Impressive, nothing better than a dark romantic ambiance. that soup looked so delish with all that cheese...yummsville. Bobbie's salad had so much in it was making my mouth water. And the bread with sour cream sounded just wonderful. Great place to review guys!! Thanks for taking us with you! God bless.

Nothing on this menu seems appealing to me I’d definitely pass. Anytime you go to a restaurant and every dish has a picture it’s a red flag 🚩 no thanks!

Interesting take. Having pictures on the menu can be really helpful. There's a segment of the population that can't picture items (not just food) in their mind so having pictures helps. It's also a tourist area so you'll get foreigners who've never experienced these dishes before so seeing them helps people make a decision. But to each their own. I like pictures but if a menu has it doesn't have them it doesn't matter to me.

We have been there twice over the years. The first time was on our way back from our honeymoon and we ate upstairs in one of the bedrooms and our table was underneath what would have been a canopy for a bed. Had the porkchops with cherry sauce and it was so good! Was there 5 yrs later and ended up in the same bedroom and they still had the porkchops with the cherry sauce. That was over 30 yrs ago!

I love the Dobbin House Tavern the last time you vlogged there. What history this is when you think that the Mayflower landed there in 1620. The French onion soup. YUM. Bobbie your salad spread looks wonderful!!! The salad with smoked Turkey, not Bleu cheese don't like that too much another cheese, walnuts, apples. Cranberries. very fresh. Dad used to make date balls so I would love the date bread more of a dessert. John you like crab cakes I would like to try those. Beef looked good though!!! Just the ambience the candlelight the wood furniture the time period clothes the waiters and waitresses were wearing. Just makes you wonder what it was like back in 1776 right?

What a cool place, perfect for the holidays. One thing though. Those liquor/beer prices are dangerous. They are like happy hour prices where I live. I have never seen chunks of meat in onion soup before. That could make an entire meal. I've seen John's roast beef sandwich called a French Dip in some restaurants. Beautiful restaurant with good food. I love it. As mentioned in the past you need to go somewhere different and I recommend New Hope Pennsylvania, Washington's Crossing is right there and also Peddler's Village. Probably one of the most historical places in the United States. Hundreds of stone buildings just like this restaurant, hundreds of shops and restaurants. New Hope is an absolutely beautiful town right out of a storybook. I would love to see you do videos of New Hope and Peddler's Village. You should go for a couple days. I would love to see your videos of the area you will not be disappointed! ❤🇺🇸🙏🏻👍🏻

The soup looks heavenly…yum. The salad with the date bread is probably what I would order, it looked very good. I love a soup and salad lunch. Sorry you were a little disappointed with the beef sandwich, I know you wanted to eat something other than your favorite crab cakes and I wondered why you didn’t get them but your explanation made sense. My parents celebrated their 50th anniversary in the banquet room. I've never eaten in the Springhouse area. My parents were eating down there one time and a bunch of re-enactors were eating and singing songs. Every time they sang a patriotic song, everyone in the restaurant stood up. My parents said that they had never gotten so much exercise during a meal. Week day evenings are best to eat in the dining room, they tend to pack you in like sardines on the weekend. The food is good, though.

John & Bobbie l am a fan of the classic French onion soup made with Cognac, white wine etc. That soup although was not that, it looked yucky, the beef liquid looked muddle and the cheese thickness was to heavy that you couldn't scooped it out because the cheese harden up before you could scoop a spoonful & croutons, bread drowned at the bottom of the bowl. the food overall didn't look impressive. The price point not a problem. would only maybe go for an appetizer & cocktail because of the ambience only!

@@jbinthehills That was not a French onion soup by no means, it looked like a thick cheeses fondue with beef cubes & onions. what cut of beef did they use?. your taste buds is y'all's own. atmosphere is very pretty, but l would only have a appetizers, etc for that atmosphere. Jolly Christmas!

Looks like a great place. The French Onion looked very good. The Salad looked good but the roast beef looked skimpy. Only 45 minutes from us., might have to try it. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to both of you.

Great atmosphere and history. Very pricy and geared for the tourist. Bobby’s meal with French onion soup would be the way to go for me. Again, great history, great atmosphere. Thanks for the video, be well and we hope you and the family a very merry Christmas , God Bless.

Another great video John and Bobbie. The Dobbin House is one of our favorite places to eat in Gettysburg. We have gone there for our Anniversary and other special occasions. The history and decor of the Dobbin House is really neat. The hide out room with for the Underground Railroad is neat to see. The house was a stop on the Underground Railroad. The food is really good there. Colonial Fare. The gingerbread houses were really neat. I agree with you John I picked the Keg Lamp House . I thought thatvthe detail on it was amazing. Thanks for snother enjoyable video.

Have yet to eat there over all the years both living in Gburg and visiting (Drank in the Tavern & shopped in the gift shop)one of these days we'll eat there lol. the outdoor eating area is newish, back in the day we did a History of the GI program in Nov showing the evolution of the uniform and gear from the Rev War to 1990's. always a great time in town. Winter time is always slow with tourist.

Absolutely love Gettysburg and Hanover. So glad to see yall go there and put it on the map 😁 I live in York, Pa about 45 min from Gettysburg. I do recommend The Yorktowne Hotel. It is a historical hotel that has been remodeled and I think you two would love it. Also, I work there ☺️
