Make sure you subscribe to follow our daily lives in this farm!
Hey to everyone!!
We are two young adults, Despina 22 and Deivids 23 renovating an old farm house from 1817 in Latvia.
Everything in and out of our house has been done by ourselves with no hired help.
DIY is going to apply to nearly everything in our house. Our budget is tight and that has made us appreciate every “ugly” part of this house and turn it into something new and beautiful.
We give new life to things that others would throw away!
In this journey we are not alone! We are starting up our little Farmily:
5 Goats & 6 Goat Babies
3 Sheep & 3 Sheep Babies
4 chickens
1 Rooster
and 3 Geese
Oh yeah and our cat Ivi
Despite our daily problems we are two young people full of joy and happiness, ready to start a new crazy chapter in our life. It wouldn’t be fair to keep this fun just for us!
That’s why we want YOU to also be part of our Farmily!!
We love our very supportive community!!
Thank you so much for the support you are giving us. Every view, like, share, subscribe and financial support means a lot to us. Any support is extremely appreciated!

Those LED lights are terrific ! A 24 inch strip uses less than $7 electricity a year. Much cheaper than florescent lights. I didn't know the stork was so friendly to you- he's right there in your garden ! Getting all the worms...

Your seed growing was on an almost industrial scale, no wonder it took you a while to get them transplanted. When they are so small, the seedlings are easily damage by picking them up, which adds pressure on you to be very careful. I agree with the comments about a possible cold frame or poly tunnel to 'harden plants' off or even act as a greenhouse to extend the length of your growing season.

If your new plants seem to struggle you might check into "hardening off" which is a process of getting new plants acclimated to the outdoors. As always, your videos are wonderful. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, to straight put out plants from indoor light often kill the plants, they are not used to neither sunlight or wind!

Looking good! Remember to harden off your seedlings. A couple hours outside in the shade, then a few hours more, then another hour or two in the full sunshine, and so on until they can go outside all day. We've had some VERY windy days here in Nova Scotia and that has been so hard on my baby plants. We lost a bunch. Hopefully yours have better luck. Hugs to both of you!

Everything looks healthy and beautiful! So many bees flying around, maybe it's time for some bee hives. Another product that could be added for sale in your store. Beautiful jars with your logo on them. People around the world, love to have organic honey on their shelve. Think about adding Bee Farming! Using KZbin community to educate yourself about caring for the bees.

A lot of nice starts, maybe, if you have place, use the containers, put a little bit of dirt and the seed, then as the plant is growing, add more dirt, your plants will not be suffering of the first transplant. Also, if you have the lid of the containers, put them on and then you have a small greenhouse. That's how I started my greens this year, and I can say, that they all survived and it was a lot of less work. Happy to see you young folks to be so happy of all your learning

Hi David and Dessy. Jobs are never ending. The lights have done their job,an abundance of plants. If you had a cold frame, polly tunnel you could harden off the seedlings before planting out. Dessy your right you could store carrot in the ground. You just need to put a thick layer of spent hay/straw on top and that stops the frost getting to your roots,an experiment maybe for next year, same for swede/ turnips too. The blossom is so beautiful and the stork nest is camouflaged, everything has grown so much. Recycling, I do the same till the plastic goes brittle. Usually 2/3 seasons. Loved the music, goats playing and interesting about sheep Sheering!. 🐑 stay safe. Thanks for sharing.

You have a nice group of crops. It is a lot of work but having your own fresh veggies is worth it. Nothing tastes better. I think the idea of raising bees is a good one. Especially since you planted all those fruit trees. So sad to see the goats grow up! They're still cute and entertaining but if they could only stay small and cuddly

Love you 2. Suggestions for you. Cut or take off lower branches from tomato plant then plant stalk deep, roots will grow on stalk & you'll have a nice strong plant,to not water from top. They don't like leaves wet. Don't over water. You can also steak tomatoes, cukes you did your beans/peas. GOOD LUCK 👍

I can't grow food in my beach sand soil but after years of making it good I now grow my food in nursery containers. I am in Florida USA so we grow February to June or July and then August and September through the winter. It doesn't freeze much. Save every container to grow food! Best wishes and you have a lovely farm!

Wow! It looks as if you're planting enough tomatoes to feed an army I hope your animals will benefit from the surplus. My tomatoes have been on larger pots, then onto the ground and are far ahead of some. Maybe you can plan to have a greenhouse layer, to get plants started much earlier. I report into big pots and the tomatoes keep getting larger and sometimes even have blooms and fruit, by the time they are planted in the garden. I call those cheaters and the goal is to have the earliest tomatoes around. Good luck with your garden and enjoy the results of your labor. I certainly enjoy mine.

Maybe try filling tubs with soil then use a stick to make a hole with depth depending on variety , then pop seeding into hole then tamp soil down , top up with more soil if needed ..much,much quicker and easier…… I must invest in some grow lights, they certainly make a difference.

The carrots are making seed You can plant some winter veggies like turnips left over from last year in the spring to make seed for the winter veggies. Rutabagas. Turnip carrots. Probably more I'm not thinking about and you can use your seeds from inside last year's squash and pumpkin. Did you save some beans for seed? You can just get dry beans from super market

Let the carrots grow for their 2nd season. Let them go to seed, collect the seeds this fall. Carrots need 2 seasons to seed out. And yes you can store the carrots in the ground over winter. You get very, very cold there, so cover them with straw.

Hey Chaps, Great video, your garden looks like its going to be a lot more productive this year. With tomatoes, if they have long stems you can plant them deep so covering the stem and roots will grow from the stems making stronger plants. It only works with tomatoes though! Am Loving your daily videos and watching Avidly. Take care xx

hello you two, The goats look happy outside, they are running and jumping everywhere. They just need a few cement blocks and a few old planks to become outstanding acrobats. You always find the right music to accompany the video sequences. I find it unfortunate that you don't use manure in your garden or with the shrubs as fertilizer. Your garden would be much richer and your vegetables would grow better and more profitable. Usually, the manure is spread in the field before ploughing. It must be mixed with the soil by plowing. You will have good soil to grow everything on. Plus it'll empty the manure heap. My parents had a farm and a garden. To germinate the corn (corn of India), spread the grains in a deep dish and pour water just to cover them, add water gradually as it decreases, it takes several days before to germinate and ready to plant in the garden. The sprouts are very fragile to break when planting. Good luck with the garden, hope it produces lots of vegetables. I know it's a lot of work.

Yes! I agree! Some of their trees, bushes and veggies are too deep. If they fail it will be because of rot. The tomatoes will benefit from deep planting, though. This young couple do so many things and aren’t afraid to try anything. I certainly admire them, and wish them the best.

What about the water problem at your front entrance??? Another question: are you going to hire someone to shear the sheep? Or, are you going to buy shearing clippers, so you can keep them sheared in the future, especially if you are going to keep the sheep. Again using KZbin to learn about shearing and selling the wool.
