I already left a rather lengthy comment on the Dobie Masters feedback post. Here, just really quick, a couple of things to consider. Multiple short training sessions during the day go much further than one longer one. If the dog can't focus for 10 minutes, just do 5 minute sessions 2 or 3 times a day. It will be way more effective. And if you give a command ("sit"), you have to make the dog sit. If they lay down, do not reward. Bring them back to a sit and then reward.

Leadership in the house ! My dobie behaves like an angel outside of the home. Everyone comments how well behaved he is, but inside the house- he’s chaos. Love the video !

Good job. I think the next to train is leave it. And heel. I agree 5 mins 3 or 4 times a day is more beneficial . They have a short focus and find it boring if you go to long. Always use treats/toy and make your voice expressive praise when they do it. It makes them happy when they know you are pleased. John you are so awesome helping. I am glad to see someone who loves this wonderful breed as much as all we doberman owners do. John you are doing so much for this breed. Thank you. They are Special.

I loved this last visit with Art and Cleopatra. I really enjoy watching you work with Cleopatra and it reminds me to keep working with my two year old Dobie, Nika. They really need that training and it’s so good for both of us as it builds a great bond between us. Can’t wait for your next episode with Art and Cleopatra. Thanks so much! ❤️

Hi! We started watching your channel years ago when we got our first dog, a German Shepherd. You had just gotten your Doberman puppy, and we were learning along with you on how to train a puppy! Now we are looking to get a Doberman, and I remembered your channel and came back here. Now I saw that you have a new Doberman named Cleo! The name of our German Shepherd we got when you got your puppy is also Cleo :) put a smile on my face and just wanted to share. Hope all is well! Thanks for all of the informational videos!

I hope there is a dog park where she can run and run. Fix the excercise requirements and a tired dog is a good dog. Dobes need to run and have long walks. I would say 85% of bad dobe behavior is that they are bored as they are not exercised enough

Yes, totally agree with you there! A dog park is a great idea.

Yes! Suzanne Clothier's automatic check in. Rather than bribing or begging for their attention, you're just rewarding their decision to check in with you. If you Yes it, you have to reward it. If no treats on you, just acknowledging that look - thanks for checking in, good job. Challenge then is acknowledging every single check in. Fenrir's you (the owner) are awesome game. I prefer the name game rather than the watch me too. Used to teach a watch me years ago and have since switched to the name - head on a swivel. Hope that helps.

I think I got really lucky because my dobie has been an angel, been doing good with commands hasn’t been biting much, and really well with potty training hoping the teenage face isn’t completely terrible 😅

Great video. Glad to see owners put their pride aside and be willing to help other owners. I hate to be the downer, but I’ve seen two videos from Europe talking about how the breed will die off. I’m a GSD owner who loves the Doberman breed. Please make an update video on that topic. Thanks 🙏🏻

Thank you for your feedback! It is sad to think about, but there is research being done now to, hopefully, enhance the Doberman's lifespan.

My Doberman is taken for 4 walks a day and she still acts like she is on speed. Any ideas on how to burn her energy out?
@DobermanPlanet3 ай бұрын
Taking her to a dog park or for a run (while you ride a bike if you want) or hiking are all high-energy burning ideas. Here are some other activities we've put together: www.dobermanplanet.com/doberman-exercise-and-activity-ideas/

My girlfriend and I are looking to move to the country side and get a dog. We both want a dog that can make her feel safe, when she's by herself out where the boogeyman lives. So if it bonds more to her, that would be ideal. I work at sea, five weeks on five weeks off. So when I'm home, I would spent a lot of time with the dog. I would really like your thoughts on this. Would it get used to me being away, then home and around a lot, and then gone again.. or would this breed be kind of traumatised by it perhaps? Also, if we got a male would it perhaps make it jealous, that this man comes and goes and shows affection to it's primary owner? I really enjoy your videos, thank you for sharing all your wealth of knowledge!
