If you're into Aroids, then you may have heard Doc Block's name here and there-since there are some of his hybrids on the market (e.g., Anthurium 'Michelle') and even some plants named after him (though by the courtesy of other folks). However, he has quite a penchant for a range plants, and has turned his Florida residence into a backyard paradise of palms, ferns, cycads, aroids, and more.
We paid a visit to his home after the cold snap in Florida and took a tour through the land. (This is part 1 of a two-part series).
Thanks to Espoma for partnering on this Houseplant Home Tour. You can find out more about our sponsor at www.espoma.com.

Beautiful Doc. Block just loves his Garden and speaks so passionately. What a privilege for you to be able to tour his gardens . He should host children's botanical hours . I would do anything to spend a day in his Gardens with him . Honestly, I would just pitch up a hammock and move in and never leave .

big thanks to dr. block for allowing us to tour. loved seeing all the stuff i use to grow when i lived in south florida. the medinilla on the rock wall was awesome, we use to grow them right in the tops of big platyceriums. speaking of platyceriums the coronarium is outstanding! we use to grow dendrobium, oncidium and phalaenopsis orchids in a similar fashion covering the trunks of trees and they really are spectacular when they bloom. thanks summer for another great tour.
