This is an adaptation of an Italian show, which was based on true facts. Main difference is that in the Italian version the one who lost his memory is a male doctor.

Looks wrong for network tv, commercials will be immersion breakers. 10 episodes to 1 season tops. Hope it gets picked up by Fox (fx) or another streaming service because it looks like an opportunity for really good storytelling.

It worked really well for us italians, with a fourth season coming around early 2026. Although americans drama is often meh, I'd expect to at least touch the social problems like private healthcare and build said drama around that.

No, the main character was shot in the original Italian series, but the actual doctor the series was based on had a car accident. He didn't lose a child, that was the TV show's creation, but he did have to go through therapy because he couldn't remember his children growing up, so they'd sort of become strangers to him, and he said he felt like they'd died.

Well, it can be. In the italian original the doctor went from the most hated in the hospital before the acident to the most loved after the memory loss. A personal tragedy made her fall into a darker side, then after the acident, and after been told what kind of doctor she was, she had a second chance to react differently when she find out about that personal tragedy.
