good advice there. Another thing to look for is make sure all the old gasket comes out. I had an issue that a small piece of the old gasket was crushed in and stuck to the port. Put the new gasket on and could not get the flange to line up square. Turns out that bit of old gasket had the new gasket and the pipe twisted and not lining up with the port.

I emailed you awhile back about my check engine light coming on my 2017 FLHTK. I had code 154. The dealer replaced O2 sensors 3 times and the last time I had it in the dealer they replaced the smart pro tuner. Well, that didn't fix it either. I remember you telling me you ended fixing the same problem by putting SE mufflers on a customers bike and that fixed the problem. We'll to prove out your theory I put my stock mufflers on for approximately 600 miles and no problem. I ended up putting Krome Werks 4.5 with baffles. So far so good. Thanks for your expertise and knowledge

Thank You Once Again! I remember your old video about the exhaust gaskets and that also helped me solve my problem. As an old retired mechanic it means a lot to me. I started as a mechanic for Harley Davidson and moved to sports cars and then to diesel and worked on the government fleet.

My 99 factory service manual torque sequence for dyna TC88 is wrong,don't know if it was corrected later. Cross reference with metric NM which is correct. The retaining rings are high tensile spring when supplied but lose the temper through heat cycles. Old ones will be soft, new will be a bear to fit with chisel sharp ends. Use copper grease as recommended on the nuts. I made a gasket driver on the lathe from some 2" aluminium. No idea if the new gaskets can be pressed in without damaging without a driver,probably not from my experience. Crossover gasket will also be junk when refitting standard headers. Just do it properly or leave it alone.

Top advice. I re torque when I change oil. Just to see if it’s loosened off. ,,, might turn 1/8 to a 1/4 turn till the torque spec

I always keep a couple pair of S/E exhaust gaskets in the parts box. Having an older bike (mines a 1987 1/2 FLST-Special), there's just times when your doing regular maintenance that it's easier to just get the exhaust pipes outta the way. Like changing tranny oil on my bike. You can get the drain plug out with the front pipe on but just try to put the drain plug back on safely. Easier to do it the safe way. Same with changing the back tire. Just get the rear pipe outta the way. You got plenty of cleaning to do in the meantime so what's the rush.
2:50 you say 50 to 80 inch pounds.... WOW i better read that in the book ... i have a disc on file... and i have a Book... i check it out Doc... Thanks so much you might be right...

How do you replace the stud once it’s pulled out? Tap and use a bigger stud? Doesn’t seem right
@SIERRA-dx9wm17 күн бұрын
Helicoil is a good fix I have gone one size larger tap on stripped out hole and larger bolt That’s a talk real nice hoping for success Do you feel lucky?
@ihateemael17 күн бұрын
in automotive ex shops they used to have a stud made with a large diameter on one end, so you drill out and tap. Otherwise you need a helicoil or similar kit.

Help , People , by Saying Lb. Feet , I had a Engineer Explain it , That Help Quit Making it Complicated The Engineer Explained it stops the How tight when you say inch Lbs vs Lb Feet !!!
@ronkuzyk383617 күн бұрын
60 inch pounds = 5 foot pounds. Take 60 inch pounds and divide by 12 ( because there is 12 inches in a foot) and you get 5 foot pounds. I am not an engineer, I hope that explains it. Another tip is to use a 1/4 inch ratchet when tightening the nuts.
