THIS STORY:
We travel to Griffin Georgia to two cemeteries on the trail looking for the truth - to find the real burial location for Doc Holliday.
John Henry "Doc" Holliday was an American gambler, gunfighter, and dentist. A close friend and associate of lawman Wyatt Earp, Holliday is best known for his role in the events leading up to and following the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral. He developed a reputation as having wounded and killed several men in various altercations.

_________________________________________________________
The Angel face you see is the Haserot, named “The Angel of Death Victorious". The stoic angel is seated on the marble gravestone of canning entrepreneur Francis Haserot and his family. Holding an extinguished torch upside-down, it represents a symbol of life extinguished. Wings are outstretched and the gaze is straight ahead.
IN THE END, DEATH ALWAYS WINS. LEST THE FACES NOT BE FORGOTTEN...
This channel is focused on casually walking and viewing a handful of the thousands of forgotten names and faces at various cemeteries near and afar. Seeing their faces up close. And when able, telling the stories behind their names.
Most graves are unknown and lost to history.
Some are famous.
And some infamous....
....and some with tragic endings.

It's a fascinating story but I do believe we will probably never know the truth of where his is. It definitely adds to his legend in the old west as so many figures seem to have. There is certainly a lot of misinformation out there concerning Doc and trying to discern fact from fiction is difficult.

You inspired me to go do a little research myself. I found out his Momma died of turberculosus and his adopted brother Francisco. So the feel that doc and him got it from his momma. I looked up the first cousin Martha Melanie Holliday. She lived to be 88.

FYI: You can go to England a bit early by visiting this little cemetery. "Along North Carolina's Outer Banks, in the small town of Ocracoke, is land officially leased forever to England. Actually a cemetery and memorial, the site honors the "HMT Bedfordshire," an English naval ship that patrolled the coastal waters during WWII. When the "Bedforshire" was sunk by a German U-boat torpedo, all 37 sailors on board died, most never to be recovered. Four bodies did wash ashore, though, and are buried in a cemetery leased in perpetuity to the British so the men can remain on their home soil."

Great content Ron, Doc is one of my favorite historical characters, he left not the greatest legacies, but you can't deny he wasn't interesting. It amazes me with his schooling, and upbringing he went down the wrong path, and in the way he spoke reminds me of a gentleman. I don't think we will ever know exactly where he is buried for sure, unless it's through DNA, but sometimes I think somethings should remain a mystery, it keeps our minds interested. I wish you would have had enough time to explore more graves, they hade some wonderful little tombstones. The flowerbed tombstones are a favorite of mine. Thanks Ron, you really provided some great research.

Ron, seriously this was an incredible episode. I wish Mr. Dunn were still alive! He sounded like a treasure of information. When you showed the grave of the 15 year old married girl, it always makes me wonder if she died in childbirth. 15 year olds are often not physically mature enough to have a trouble-free birth. Too many things can go wrong.😔
@MeMe-nw9mq
@MeMe-nw9mq 2 жыл бұрын
@Cathrine White…you are probably right. So many young women died in childbirth. If not from the actual birth itself, then from unsanitary health practices (no hand washing between patients, unsterilized equipment, etc). It’s really sad. So many lives could have been saved if people would have just washed their damned hands or understood the importance of keeping what rudimentary medical instruments they had clean and sterile.
