Its so sad that some people just won't understand - "History is History" "It Can't Be Rewritten it is what it was" No one alive now lived it so just accept its History! Also respect that boys who fought in ANY war was someone's son & had family who loved them conditionly. Respect their final resting place & pray their soul is at peace!

Doc's life was filled with misery and woe. Doc’s mother, Alice Jane Holliday, was his piano teacher. He was an excellent player and favored Chopin and Beethoven. Chopins nocturnes are full of sweeping dark emotion, just like Doc. He knew he was terminal for a long time. Rest in peace Doctor Holliday, wherever you are. 🙏

I've lived in the Griffin area for the last 50 + years. We've heard many stories about his final resting place. This is the first time I've heard he was buried in Stonewall Cemetery. But it does make sense for his grave to be kept in high secrecy. Thanks so much for all the deep research you do to bring us this great history and content. I guess we will never really know where he is buried but the mystery sure is enthralling.

I have been anxiously awaiting this follow up on Doc Holiday. In a way it’s sad that we can’t pay our respects to him and others because of the people who would desecrate his resting place. Thanks for doing the vlogs on him I really enjoyed them. P.S. Being from South Georgia I worry about you walking through some if the cemeteries that are located in the woods and wonder if you wear snake boots. I have seen some pretty big rattle snakes! Also, like many others I love when you put in the drone flights. The sights from above are just beautiful.

I would love to know where he is actually buried. I do understand that there are people that would destroy his final resting place, but it just leaves us Doc fans who would never do harm stuck. Ron, you answered the question I asked on Pt. 2 regarding those in attendance at Doc's burial and how they were able to keep it a secret. At the same time, why would it be necessary to have a secret club of people that possessed the knowledge if the whole point was to keep the actual location unknown. The dissemination of false information has been sufficient to keep everyone scratching their heads for over a century. Well played, Mr. Holliday Sr, well played!

I have been in the funeral profession all my life, actively for 36 years. You have to remember, that when John "Doc" Holliday passed, the embalming process was limited at best. Taking a deteriorating body across country, even if by train, would have been a deplorable adventure. In an unsealed wooden casket...maybe some lime...maybe not? And forget about traveling by buck board, that would have been even worse for those delivery chaps. And don't even think about, exhuming the body, months later...that would have been worse, yet. Horrid, to say the least. In most mysteries in life, I tend to lean toward the simplest hypothesis, knowing the times. And, if my study of western history is correct, Doc was broke at his death. So...who spent the monies to bring his body back to Griffin? The family? Wasn't many remaining. In all of the interviews with Wyatt Earp, he never mentioned Doc's remains moved to Georgia. Wouldn't that have come up in conversation at some point in his discussions concerning, Mr. Holliday? I'd think so...🤔 No...I believe that John Henry Holliday's remains (what little DNA remains in the soil) is still in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. I believe that "someone" started a rumor that he was brought home. I have had widows or widowers that lost their first spouse, early on in life, had a companion monument/marker placed at the Cemetery with, both names...remarried and moved away. When they passed, were buried beside the second spouse, but the family will go ahead a put the death date on the original monument from years prior. Now...who, besides those in the family knows, for sure, where that individual is, truly, interred? That's how rumors begin from those that simply, speculate. Enjoy your videos!👍

I am one of the Holliday descendants i live in a little town of Douglas not Douglasville but Douglas Coffee county Georgia about 45 minutes maybe an hour away from Valdosta and about an hour and a half to 2 hours from Griffin my granny was born in 1913 and my papa was born in 1900 I never got to meet my grandpa he passed away in 1967 but I loved talking and listening to Granny tell me all of the family secrets lol and looking at letters and family Bibles that were passed down throughout the family and throughout the years and to be honest with you no one in the family is going to tell you exactly where John/DOC is buried it is kept within the family DOC Daddy wanted his son to rest in peace. So sorry to say no one is going to tell you exactly where he is buried at but 100% he is in Georgia. And thank you for being respectful of our CSA veterans Graves. And please come back to see us come to Douglas and I can show you some holidays that are buried in Atkinson county GA to.

I met a William Holliday here in AZ who is a 3rd or 4th cousin of Doc's - he is originally from Valdosta, GA and looks just like a healthy version of Doc only now in his 80's. I met him several times over a period of about 3 years working in a store as a clerk. His name tag on his shirt said, "Doc" and I recognized the family resemblance as I have been somewhat of a student of the Earp's and Doc Holliday. I asked him, "Are you related to John Henry Holliday?" He smiled as his eyes lit up and said, "It's easy to spot if you know what to look for." We struck up a friendship and his eyes lit up even more when I bought a bag of frozen okra. "He said, "Oh, what I'd give for a mess of fresh okra off the farm back home in GA." I didn't ask him too many questions, but I managed to ask only a couple that really cemented the truth that he was indeed a distant cousin of Doc Holliday. One was the day I asked him if Doc was really buried in Glenwood Sprngs, Colorado and he offered this information with no uncertain terms: "He was buried there in Linwood cemetery after he died in that sanitorium but sometime in the last 30 or 40 years some of the family went there and researched his burial site and arranged privately to have his remains moved. Doc's body was in fact quietly exhumed and is reburied in a cemetery in Griffin, GA in an unmarked grave. Most of the family doesn't even know the actual location of his grave. I know that I do not." I later asked him if Doc was as deadly as the history books and film adaptations of his life portray him. Expecting an answer about Doc's prowess with a pistol or other weapon, Bill said, "Let me give you an example that aint in any of the history books. Doc was nobody to fool with. There were people that he hated for whatever reason, who had done him wrong and instead of shooting them down or cutting them with a knife, he would wait for an opportunity. One such opportunity presented itself to him while he was still practicing dentistry in Tombstone - which he did for a very short time on a limited basis. A man with a bad tooth which was badly decayed and dangerously infected came to him for dental assistance. Doc agreed and after getting the man liquored up enough to pull the tooth, Doc then pulled a completely healthy tooth adjacent to the bad one and let the man go away in pain and misery with the infection spreading and the knowledge of a sure and certain eminent death. Another man accused Doc of being a party to a stage robbery. Doc said he wished he had thought of it and the two of them went off surreptitiously to rob the stage. Doc lamed the man's horse and left him to die in the desert heat without water without so much as threatening him any violence. Doc was vicious, make no mistake about that."

thanks, great stuff. even though Doc could not beat up a 15 year old (Bat Masterson quote when he became a writer) he was deadly as hell with a knife or gun. it was more his explosive temper and devil may care attitude, a walking dead man.

Very interesting I didn't even know there was controversy over where Doc was buried. Have they had vandalism in Glenwood Springs? His mom sure died young.

Karen Holliday Tanner, a descendant of Robert Holliday, wrote A Holliday Family History, might know whether Doc was taken back to Georgia or not. Ask her. I would.

Still wondering about the cemetery my parents found between Tombestone and Sierra Vista in the 1950's. They were dating and looking for rocks and arrowheads and found a small cemetery surrounded by a circle of trees. They said THAT was supposed to be the real Boot Hill. As for Doc buried here or there, to travel by train from Colorado to GA would be quite a trip back then. I know they did ship bodies that way, but it seems like quite a deal to go unknown. The other thing, if Doc and his dad were estranged, it feels a little disrespectful to Doc to bury his Dad next to him. I dunno. Something feels wrong. If you ever get back to Arizona again, between Benson and St. David, there are 3 graves off the highway closer to Benson heading to St. David on the right side back a ways. They are 3 wooden crosses with no names. My mom found them when she was a kid and never found out who they were. She thought maybe they were the 3 men that were hanged in the Horseshoe Cafe???? Anyway, just something to think about. Thank you!! I love Doc!!
