If you watch Rhule's press conference, this is double slants from the 1 and 2 and a corner by Kemp at the 3. The play was always intended to go to Kemp. The thought being throw a safe corner route to the back pilon where your guy gets it or no one does. Unfortunately, Kemp runs the route flat and the ball never gets to the back pilon like it was intended. Malachi also got pressed on his slant so he was late. He was supposed to get further inside faster, but because he was late and Kemp's route was flat, he brought his man right into the passing lane so it looks like it was going to Malachi, but it was 100% going to Kemp. And despite Kemp running the route flat, he was open and the ball was on target. We probably score if Malachi took his guy out of the equation and didn't get held up so long in press. Not any one person's fault. Multiple compounding errors, and it turns into a heart breaker.

Glad someone said it, Rhule literally told us it was a corner route concept. Yet everyone likes to break it down and speculate

I agree with most of that, but it literally was one person’s fault. If Coleman vacates the area, it’s a TD. The pass was good and Kemp was where he was supposed to be.

Couldn't agree more. I listened to game on the radio. Seeing Nebraska's formation and how Maryland lined up, if I was going to throw a pass, I'd a set the RB on the other side of Purdy, the 3 WRs would have run slant or in routes and the primary target on the pass would have been the running back on wheel route out of the backfield. Maryland was playing 0 coverage, man across the board. There was zero chance the LB or S would have been able to cover our RB.

The first pass was a Purdy call, he was to hand it off The last call was RHULE's call not the OC And well Kemp went flat instead of tto the back corner of the end zone & Coleman was late getting his man out of the area, this is the price we pay for players not having enough game time experience

I believe on one of the replays it showed a view from behind and what looked like a great pass to Kemp, but Malachi crosses late and puts his defender right on the balls path

If you decide to go for the Win and pass in this situation. You make it the biggest play of the Game. You call a Timeout!!! Give the coaches time to think of the right play and time to make sure players fully know responsibility of the play.

If you look at first down, it was not a pass call from the OC. Purdy pulls the ball from the rb goes to the outside. Fidone misses his block huge. Pushing Purdy back to the 20 yard line before he gets rid of it. There is no receivers out if you look at the replay.

Yeah, you run and run and run, then you kick a FG

I don't understand why they don't use their 6'7" tight-end on goal to go. He's a mismatch for the shorter safties and line backers.

I agree with trying to win the game - get a TD vs. just a field goal. I lean on running the ball all 3 downs, but this pass was a TD if Coleman just reaches out. It Sucks!

According to rhule the first play was a called run

Right here you run..run...run...melt the clock and IFFFF you don't get a TD (which you very well may) you kick a FG. You do not ever pass in this situation with this personell... ever

worst part is if Purdy just throws to Colman, he runs into the end zone as the DB was way off to recover. The DB only INTs that pass, because he was way off of coverage. Any QB would of known to throw to the inside route guy if the defender is not on them. We do not have QBs, they are not well trained and that is on Satterfield and previous QB coaches. Nebraska has to relearn basic football. They have to learn to play HS football again. They are not a good team and they keep making same mistakes over and over and the only way they win games is because the other teams in the BIG10 are just as bad as we are right now. CFB as a whole has dropped in skill IMHO compared to the talents of 2010 and before. The last great team was one of the early Alabama teams or maybe Clemson's first National Championship team. Every team post then have been winning games with below expectation because their opponents are playing below expectations.

What can go wrong when your 3rd stringer is told to pass it in the middle of six guys? That’s dumb play calling

Love to hear your honest (non-politcal bantering) opinion of Riola's job thus far. I understand he is working with a patch work O-Line... But it was bad before then. How's his technique teaching? How's his recruiting? I have a feeling it's sub-par to this point.

Colman's road to the NFL is as a defensive end. He has an explosive first few steps. It will take him too long to learn all the tricks of an elite wide receiver.

That last drive started at the Nebraska 3, Chubba attempted and completed a pass of 24 yards to Kemp. Not sure where they are getting their game info. Hard to trust an analysis if the data isn't correct to begin with. Satt calls a run play at 1st & goal from the 5 where Chubba pulls it & throws it away. It wasn't a pass play & not even an RPO. Next play Johnson loses 2 yards as MD was run blitzing. HCMR tells Satt he wants to go for 6. You can hate on the call but Malachi was open & would have scored.
