This scene Really Hits hard in the movie. Especially when Lightning McQueen Realized how big of a Jerk he was to his Old Crew Chief and Pit crew. When Doc Showed McQueen what happened to him it Shows that Sooner or later That kind of thing would happen to McQueen. And it did happen in Cars 3.

@@Memelord1117I’ve seen that scene, and while it’s cool to see that parallel with Doc, and to see McQueen win against Storm, it wouldn’t have made sense given how the story had been set up to that point. In the final attempt to beat Cruz, McQueen finally passed her only for her to quickly overtake him again, and in that moment McQueen knew, Smokey knew, Cruz knew, everyone there knew, that McQueen, having given it absolutely everything, was not going to beat Storm. So in the actual race and his last chance to keep racing, he decided to do the selfless thing and give Cruz what could have been her only shot to race. I don’t think he expected her to actually win the race. But the way she did it, copying Doc’s move, and even that whole set up with Smokey giving the flashback about how Doc was the fastest until he wasn’t cause of the new rookie, only for Doc to pull off that barrel roll move to beat him, didn’t make sense either, cause it showed Doc overcoming the rookie. In that instance, it should have been McQueen who did that move to beat Storm, not Cruz, so if Cruz was the one to race and win, she shouldn’t have had, or necessarily been able, to do that move. It didn’t fit her story the way it would have fit McQueen’s. Like the flashback story didn’t fit how the movie turned out, and therefore could have been better left out, or if it was meant to show Doc overcoming his rookie rival, then it should have been McQueen overcoming his own. But then, the first movie displayed his newfound selflessness, giving up the Piston Cup to help the King, so him doing the same here, giving up his last chance to race to give Cruz her first, fit his character. And in the end McQueen ends up in Doc’s paint scheme and becomes Cruz’s coach, whether he did in fact continue racing or not. Whether that was always the intended ending or not, regardless of if it was McQueen or Cruz who won that last race, is unknown.

I honestly imagine that he pushed himself during rehab so he wouldn't have to use one. He ached, pained, and it hurt like nothing he'd ever felt, but he did it, expecting to be in close to peak condition and be welcomed back... Of course, that didn't happen. The fact he went through hell for these people and they just cast him aside broke him and his trust in anyone of the racing circuit.

I love this scene because this is where both Lightning and Doc learned about each other. Lighting realized how selfish and arrogant he was, but Doc also realized that he's been using the folks at Radiator Springs as his cover to hide from the world. When Doc called the reporters on Lightning, the reaction of the townfolks made him realize that Lightning had changed, and that was his turn to change too.

One thing I like about this scene is when Doc said to McQueen to name him ONE time when he cared for someone other than himself, lighting doesn't even bother trying to come up with excuses, think about it, or even try to lie about it. He just lowers his head in regret knowing that he couldn't answer doc. It goes to show how much McQueen changed during his time there.
@GeoffreyEdgson
@GeoffreyEdgson 6 ай бұрын
I agree, and how much they both changed. Doc was hiding away even from those closest to himself for decades. McQueen was abbreasive and full of himself, with complete honesty in who and what he was. Lying by omission, or brutal and honest about it...... Both of them called the other out here, and credit where it's due, Doc nailed LIghtning to the wall and ran away the moment McQueen returned the favour.

The series wouldn’t be mocked so frequently if Pixar made the movie about car racers rather than actual cars. I mean, they actually nailed the story and message in the first movie and it’s message about losing with honor rather than winning by hurting others is solid and true. Other scenes like the ending race with King’s crash and Lighting helping him after sacrificing the cup would be nice as human animatics too.

The way I like to see it is, yes it could've just been a story about a nascar driver (McQueen) in our regular human world. But instead of a human story, it's the story about the racecar itself. Doesn't that in theory sound more interesting? I honestly appreciate pixar for going that route and creating a whole new world of automobiles rather than just settling with the regular everyday human world that we live in

Pretty sure the only reason they went with actual cars is just for "marketability" to be like the next hot wheels when it comes to cars being actual characters, but even that reason falls flat when they could of just assigned cars with iconic designs that are tailored to fit each owners' personality and occupation and still sell off with that.

Cannot wait for your next animatic. Maybe Sally and McQueen talking at the Wheel Well, him talking with the townsfolk and helping them out (that would give us a chance to see Sally, Mater and the rest), and maybe him helping the King cross the finish line and earning more respect than Chick ever did. Would even be neat to see ones from Cars 2 (lame, but not bad) and Cars 3, like the crash and Lightning's recovery or helping Cruz (HAVE to know what the human equivalent of the "Off the Wall" move is.)

I didn't understand this scene as a kid. But now? It hits much harder coherently. (Better seeing them in human form, honestly.) It was this moment that made McQueen exchange his ego for opening up to those who help him. All his life he only cared about himself, but the people of Radiator Springs helped him see change for, not just himself, but Doc too. And that moral carried all the way through the rest of the trilogy.

TFW we watch this one as the Comments are on. For real, amazing work. Regardless, after watching that Scene where Doc rides again not only is super satisfying, its also sad as one can mix both that and this Scene and realize Doc misses that Racing World.

Be careful when you say live-action or they'll try to use actual cars lol 😭

That was actually more emotional than the actual movie. The movement, the facial expressions… It’s somehow more expressive as humans than animated cars.

It looks so cool what you're doing here. Maybe you might combine all these into a fan movie sort of thing, if you can. You would have to add some animations or change sound effects around since the cars are human now, but it could work. Copyright might be a problem, though.
