Paul Shaffer was passionate, and backed by the greatest studio musicians in Late Night Television when Broadcasting was BIG! Thanks for sharing.

Sporting a Miami Vice-inspired attire, Doc Severinsen proudly wore a blazer with sleeves rolled up and a t-shirt.

I remember watching this and that moment when the band kick-in and Paul puts his palm to his forehead thinking OMG I can't believe I'm here. I know the sound of sitting 3 feet from a roaring big-band and it's overwhelming. I can't even imagine what the feeling was knowing he was fronting them and playing the old Oliver Nelson Taste Of Honey arrangement that Doc and Ed (the drummer) played on originally.

Mr. Music. Schaeffer was such a musical genius. Started at Godspell in Toronto, went to SNL then Letterman. What a career he has had.

I have always felt that this was the beginning of Doc and the gang passing the "baton" onto Paul and the next Era of Late Night musicians. Each were so incredibly talented. This is truly remarkable! Thanks for sharing.

As a Director, Bobby Quinn rarely took creative chances with his shot selection and camera positioning. Still, he was one of the greats.
