Wow, this is FANTASTIC!!!! I think many people always thought of Doc as more of a showman, well except for musicians. But man, was this guy a versatile and masterful trumpet player. He is like Bobby Shew. He could do anything from classical trumpet concertos, to a screamer! And quite lyrical. My favorite trumpeter over everybody else!!! Thanks so much for posting this treasure J.J!!!

The "wedding" Johnny is referring to is the wedding of Tiny Tim & Miss Vicki, 40 million people watched.

I loved those Getzen days. Doc’s a lot younger and can play fast

Not totally sure if that's a getzen trumpet. It doesn't have the amado water keys. Other than that, it looks like it could be a getzen. And based on the age of Johnny and doc, it appears to be during the getzen era. But every time I've seen doc with a getzen it always has the amado water keys.

Amado spit valves started in 1970. One year after this

@@christopherlabarbera5502 Ah. Okay. Of course the classic photo of him during the Getzen days is the cover of the album Rhapsody for Now. (Amado water keys.) BTW, my parents bought me a brand new Getzen Eterna Severinson Model in 1975 and I still have it and play it to this day. I bought a Schilke B6 a year and a half ago And I can honestly tell you that the Schilke has absolutely nothing over the Getzen.

Always that sparkling tone outta the Getzen (?). Johnny and Doc both look like they go about 140 lbs.

Pretty sure that’s the Severnson Getzen.

yep-Doc endorsed the Getzen 1963-1979-somewhere along the way though, he started to have Bach 37 bells soldered onto his Getzen's
