Have you all noticed how much impressionistic piano music there is in Zelda: Breath of the Wild? The playful Debussian staccati while taming a wild horse, the somber arrangement of the Song of Time that plays when Link explores a ruined Temple of Time? As you'd expect, I love the direction they've taken the soundtrack. :-)
Here's my own impressionistic piano arrangement of the Temple of Time theme, called "Les cloches du temps." I combined the well-known melody with a chord progression taken straight from Koichi Sugiyama's Legend of Sirius soundtrack (which he also re-used in the overworld music for Dragon Warrior). I composed it in November 2015, but am only getting around to posting it now.

This feels like the theme that should play after link returns to his original time before his journey began. Nothing but him looking around at the grand structure of the temple, reflecting back at everything he did. He would then see Navi fly off and disappear without a trace, i can only begin to imagine the feelings that poor boy must've felt at that moment. It must've made him go numb inside as he quietly left the temple.

Yeah like he was only 10 even though he was 17 he didn't age mentally so he pretty much did this traumatic adventure as a 10 year old boy let alone 17.

@@meganescriven3198 there is a point i feel durring OOT and MM where link feels like he goes from soldiering on through his adventure to being a wanderer. yes he has bursts of determination like when his horse is taken by the Skull Kid but most of the time he looks very... numb, as if his innocence was taken before it`s time leaving him distraught and confused yet unable to vent these emotions, keeping them bottled up inside as no one could even begin to understand his plight. and the only one who could`ve understood left him all alone.

YES! My one caviat to that is that Link must be more noble than Geralt. He has some good qualities, but the witcher on the cover often fails to match the standard of piety and chivalry that Link has held in nearly every game. But yes. One sword is for monsters, the other... people. Zelda is not for kids.

The Hero of Time was the most selfless hero in the history of Zelda. He endured harsh trials and tribulations, as he was forced into adulthood to fix the past by correcting the future. He was forgotten in his time. No one remembered his utterly selfless deeds...he was abandoned by the only one who did. In his grief, the Hero of Time died alone...and became a lonely spirit of regret. His only goal? Not revenge, not fame, not glory...but to merely pass on his teachings. A true hero who deserved much, much better. Imagine, just for a second, imagine literally saving the world---making friends and companions, exploring all of an ancient land...only to be thrown into a time where NOONE remembers you, or your deeds. Those friends and companions you made? They believe you to be a stranger. I couldn't imagine the heartbreak. Hearing this theme fills me with a thousand wonderful feelings, mainly of nostalgia. However, I am mostly filled with sadness...like I'm being left behind on something.

@RebeccaETripp, this story is for you. *THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: A NEW HERO?* Maria Silvia Hansen has been an ordinary person who has fawned over Link as a child. Until one day... Maria was in her alley on Earth, continuing her portrait of the Hero of Time. She sighed. "Oh how I wish I could meet him!", she sighed to herself. Suddenly, a portal opens in front of her. "What...?", she says. She goes in without a moment's hesitation. "W-where am I..? This place... familiar to me.." Then she sees him: the legendary Hero of Time. "No... way!" She exclaims. Link nods and grabs her. "Hey... what're you...?!" *TO BE CONTINUED...* *(Hi! Zelda Fan01 here. Like what you see? I wonder if the older architectures on Chirches and cathedrals are in fact temples of light - Leicester Cathedral seems like the Artisans distinctly refer to EEG usung different light around heads in the stories being to to represent the mind; the most ornate stained glass windows look like a religion of light was already here, even if not in the bible itself...Almost as if someone else took over somehow, or maybe two different cultures worked withing the organisation - seems rediculous? @docnanomusic 7 жыл бұрын
MCMeru Thanks for the feedback. :-) I struggled with whether to call it 'impressionistic' for the reasons you mention. I decided in favor of it because (1) some of Debussy's works that are classified as impressionistic still employ rather conventional tonality (e.g. Clair de Lune, Reverie, Golliwogg's Cakewalk), and (2) the piece is composed so as to evoke a certain mood or impression - that of an ancient building standing through the centuries as time ticks slowly by. I agree it's a stretch, but it's debatable. :-)
