How ironic, that for the next 20 years he was out of the studio and for the last 10 years he is almost permanently on tour ...

Terri Nunn and Andrew should sing more songs together. so fantastic.

Today he says he loves being on tour. His voice went away nowadays. He should have released at least one more album in early 90’s before posing like a God. I mean he should have gotten more from that brilliant lineup.

Better 3 GREAT ALBUMS THAN 32 SHIT ONES

Quite true.heard the newer songs? Heard all of them.Not anything really bad, bit they can't keep up with their older stuff, and Eldritch is smart enough to know that.

It would have to have been before the grunge era. Anyway three albums with three different line ups makes sense. Particularly with him.

If you accept Andrew at face value- you start to see the artistic statement he is making. Personally, his egotism is necessary in order for the cult of "The Sisters of Mercy" to work. He is completely into his world and ideals and doesn't apologize for it. I don't want to find out that he washes dishes or pets a dog or even smiles on a sunny day. He's a bloody artist to core!
@MysteriousAsteria6 жыл бұрын
And that "cult" has gotten dry and old pretty fast though. I know, Andrew probably doesn't give two shits about recognition, but apart from old goffs and the occasional 80s Hardrock loving hipster, most people forgot about SoM and why they'd be relevant at all.

peripheral activities ; sex, books (kierkegaard, nietzsche, etc), computers, women. Eldritch is too smart to be a rock'n'roller, he should be a lecturer or some kind of "public intellectual". Like Chomsky or Eco et al.

andrew is one of a kind. a journalist once asked him comment on bands that where inspired by the sisters. One of them was my band. He really kicked my ass. He absolutly hated it................but maybe he was right in his comment. Still love the guy

Peripheral activities, as in unimportant, minor, secondary, nonessential activities. What could those peripheral activities be, you ask? I dont know. But the context is making music on your own, so possibly he may be referring to some of the music producing and editing activities, whatever that may be, in which case he may bring help from outside. I hope this interpretation is helpful.

Sisters had a great run. But they ruled strongest in the early-later 80's, if you weigh things objectively (Alice, Floor Show, Emma, Adrenochrome, Walk Away, Dominion, etc.).

Raul, Andrew says, "I love writing songs and I love making records, and as long as the peripheral activities don't get too boring or too frustrating, then i shall keep doing that." I think he's saying that he doesn't particularly like some of the bullsh*t that is part of the music business in general. [Example, he stated in the video that he dislikes touring because he has better uses for his time].
@DocSommer15 жыл бұрын

Peripheral activities are things a musician needs to do that isn't making music. Radio interviews, appearing at the record store, standing ringside at a pro-wrestling event... Musicians have to do all kinds of stupid stuff.

I don't really understand the bitterness. For those of us who were initially exposed to their music it was a beautiful thing at a beautiful time. Can't agree with his politics though. Socialism sucks. Good ideas don't need the barrel of a gun.
