My dad had a widow maker heart attack at 2am 2/15/2020. I got him about 8 miles to the hospital on 9 minutes. He went from home to the cath lab to a room in 47 minutes. I’ll forever be thankful for the nurses and doctors who saved my dad’s life. His LAD was 100% blocked and I believe the LCA was 90% blocked. The doctor said there’s no medical explanation as to why he was still with us and said his survival was 2%. Because of their quick action and how they saved my dad’s life, my brother is now in school to be a cardiovascular surgeon.

In that scene with the pole, the one precious thing they did have was time. If the pole is keeping them alive, cut it in the middle and work on them separately. There was no obvious time crunch

I used to clean the on call rooms, also operation rooms and hospital rooms for patients( basically I cleaned every inch of the hospital that I worked for) and I used to change the sheets for the doctors in the on-call rooms every single day as well as wipe them all down , floors, highs-lows dusting and trade the trash and scrubs from their rooms/lounges. I also would clean the on call rooms kitchen areas and sitting areas and I met some really nice and enjoyable to talk to doctors while I worked there. I loved that job and I made a lot of personal connections with doctors just because I had to be on the same schedule as they were to make sure I was getting everything clean behind them and before them. Surgeries, appointments, sleep times for them. Everything always on the go.
@jeydaweber21012 жыл бұрын
Also, no one is probably going to read my comments but I watched a lot of c-sections in the hospital I worked in, most the time it was about 1-2 hr maybe longer per c-section and they would listen to music and perform, also we didn’t have a viewing glass above for people to watch

I cannot express how emotional it makes me hearing him talk about how real doctors can say "I don't know" because I've lost so much faith in the doctors where I live because no matter how much they have no idea what's happening they refuse to admit it and it's caused me so many issues I think the only time I heard that they didn't know was when they'd given up, so much respect to people who are willing to admit they don't know something cause it's just so much better than alternatives (the issue where they gave up was something wrong with my wrist, nothing life threatening but it was frustrating and they did send me home with a brace though they didn't seem to think it would help? though it was the same office that gave me an inhaler -for asthma- after they did multiple tests and confirmed I didn't have asthma)
@brynnsievert6371 Жыл бұрын
to be fair, sometimes inhalers can still help folks with asthma. for a few months I had a horrible cough so I went in to the doctor, she knew it couldn't be covid and I wasn't having any symptoms of asthma so she admitted she didn't know what was up but that she'd give me an inhaler to see if that would lessen the symptoms, when it didn't she sent me to an allergist to figure out the issue and now I'm doing great!

27:40 Mike started to stutter and I’m not sure if it’s because he doesn’t like talking about those things like 9/11 etc. (neither would I and Kudos for that) or just because it was a grammatical error. I’m so surprised how calm doctors are in situations that I would be screaming and crying at so kudos to all them doctors out there, you people have balls of steel

One thing I noticed in the pilot just now. Probably noticed before. Bokhee is standing around in the scene where they are tending to the patient with the seizures. Which is really interesting because bokhee is a scrub nurse. You hardly ever see her outside the OR. Although lately they've been inviting her to weddings and parties which is very nice. Everyone loves bokhee. She's a real scrub nurse. She did finally retire.

As a person with “junky veins” I have been told to specifically ask for a midline when I come in, as someone who is tired of being poked, Knowing that they will never find a vein, or ever be able to change my IV every 24 -48hrs..... I have to go to a special phlebotomist I have to see, so I THANK a dr who listens to me when I say if you need to give me IV antibiotics, I’ll need a midline, not a central obviously, but just mentioning it.
