I’d love to see you react to the How I Met Your Mother episodes where Robin dates her former therapist. It would be really interesting to hear your thoughts, both on their relationship and when Kevin (her former therapist) brings up that it’s normal to end up with someone like your parents and the whole episode being the characters dealing with that.

I don’t work with adults. But I have a MA in psychology. Im in Canada, and part of our ethical code is that you can’t date a current client. I think it also says that you can’t date them within a specific time frame afterwards or if there is a possible power differential. It’s highly discouraged either way. Also with the falling in love with people similar to our parents: I know people tend to gravitate towards things that are familiar, so it’s possible but idk if there’s any research about it.

So was Erica's belief that Joey was actually Dr. Ramoray, and her failure to understand the concept of a TV show, part of the erotomania? Or is that a separate delusion?

Fun fact: Rachel throwing water in Joey's face was improvised, that is why if you watch closely he is wiping his face to cover up almost breaking character

I can tend to get "obessed" with my crushes and I have to be very careful or else I can easily cross that line into creepy behavior. Since I've gotten older and learned to understand myself better, I can control it now, but when I was a teen and young adult, it was bad, and I didn't understand that it wasn't an actual crush or me liking someone, it was something else I was putting on them that I needed to deal with. Literally, one day, my therapist was like, "you know, you seem to go after guys who will reject you" almost like I'm trying to recreate the cycle of my dad rejecting me. The moment that dawned on me, I felt like an idiot for not realizing that and I stopped pursing anyone I got "butterflies" for. Butterlfies mean bad news to me. I found man who makes me feel cozy, peaceful, and calm, and we've been married 12 years now.

Have you made an episode about Charlie Kelly's stalking of the Waitress in Always Sunny? He was actively stalking her from season 1 until season 12.

😂A good one! Side note: Salem is the fictional town where “Days of Our Lives” occurs. The plot line of Joey being on DoOL was made funnier by it being a current running soap at the time. So good.

You should check out M*A*S*H! It has surprisingly not awful mental health representation considering in was made in the 70s. 9x17 “bless you, Hawkeye” is one of my favourite mental heath episodes

One of my favorite episodes. So funny. Brooke was PERFECT in her scenes... as a former General Hospital fan (back when it was written like a prime time show meets poetry)... I always loved it when they focused on Joey's soap career.Edit: Now that I've watched this with you... I am wracking my brain for something else..... "Everybody Loves Raymond" the episode called "Bad Moon Rising" ,which deals with PMS... hilarious episode and I am genuinely curious about your thoughts on it. Ray doesn't deal with it well lol

I work in healthcare and I've heard lots of stories about patients, usually with dementia, who are unshakingly convinced that they are in a relationship with a celebrity who is going to come rescue them from the hospital. (It's usually Eminem for some reason.) I never knew there was a name for this!

Eminem? Hmmm, that's curiously interesting. Now I'm curious about why Eminem.

This really caught my attention because I'm a massive Eminem fan. Hopefully I don't end up like this one day lol. It is very interesting that it's been specifically Eminem many times. I wonder what that's about. Maybe because he writes very relatable songs? I mean he is the reason the word stan is in the dictionary

Colluding with delusions is something that I, as a PSW in Canada, can say is a calming strategy with elderly Residents in the LTC. Some have 'no reality orientation' in their care plans.

Affect.. I remember seeing television ads about pseudobulbar affect. So I’m guessing it’s named such because of the outward showing of inappropriate laughter or crying.

I'm in a psychotic manic episode right now.. my first... I didnt have any insight at first but have regained it.. most of the time.. which is weird for me, having delusions sometimes then knowing about them. Then having hallucinations while I'm aware.. I've been hearing music all friggen night and sometimes talking, it's driving me, more, nuts. >< It's been going on for 2 months. It's been really eye opening how the public reacts to psychosis. People are not ok with it. They do not want to hear about it, and are not willing to even try to empathize. I've lost most all of my friends. Even family want nothing to do with me.

I honestly think they got away with it because they used Brooke Shields, an obhjectively attractive person. Dont know why or maybe I do, but it would have been sader if the person was less objectively attractive.

as a non doctor type of person what is the right way to react to someone like that ? set boundaries or going along to not piss them off. this of course before notifying police to get them the help they need

So, I've just started watching your channel - I dunno how important it is to you to cover new material vs revisiting similar concepts in other shows, but "Night Court" has two episodes I think might be interesting to cover, one very similar in vein to the friends one you just covered. kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3qqeaaJiK6dapI dan tries to sleep with a woman that apparently replaces her real life with movie situations... I couldn't even find a clip of the 2nd one, but there's one where Dan basically talks Roz down out of a suicidal diabetic...episode? - I'm not sure what you'd call it The episode was called "The Constitution", and it was a two-parter I think the crazy lady with film delusions is interesting, but probably just made up for some laughs - but I'm curious what you might have to say about delusions and other psychotic conditions brought about by temporary biological conditions like diabetic shock and so on...

"The Salem witch trials, which took place in colonial Massachusetts between 1692 and 1693, were significantly influenced by a group of teenage girls, including Betty Parris and Abigail Williams. These girls began exhibiting unusual behaviors, such as fits and contortions, which they attributed to witchcraft, claiming to be afflicted by witches in their community."
