I love their marketing pitch, for it being better than lunchables, as if that's the gold standard of nutrition Reminds me of vapes being "better" than cigs diet soda being "better" than regular Ultimately, the coin is bad for the consumer, regardless of which side of it is better or worse, and while we can't control greedy youtubers misusing their influence nor children who don't know any better, parents should realise lunchly is solely a snack, and if it's treated as a snack and given to children (eg. once a week), there's no problem
@DrKaran2 ай бұрын
Yeah the “better than” Angle is a strange marketing strategy when the difference is pretty much Negligible!
@Kiihhu22 ай бұрын
There's a similar marketing pitch for whole grain products. Yes, they do raise your blood sugar less than white bread, but the difference is marginal. Every time they say whole grains help us control our blood sugar, that is always compared to white bread. We can control our blood sugar way better if don't eat grains at all. Grains are mostly starch after all, which are chains of tens of thousands of glucose molecules that will be released into our blood. Many people, like type 2 diabetics who struggle to keep their blood sugar in check, are better off without any grains, but whole grains are yet marketed to them as a good way to control blood sugar, which is just like comparing Lunchly to Lunchables. Diabetics should get their fibre from vegetables, not from grains.

@@Kiihhu2 to be fair, doesn't whole grain bread contain other nutrients, like fiber? I'd say it's still pretty good for you
@TheDeathmail2 ай бұрын
The thing is..... they are targeting a market that is already being used... it's not like they are creating a whole new category.... they're just targeting lunchables...
@DrDrao2 ай бұрын
@@Kiihhu2That's true, but starch is good for you, in moderation. You need calories to live. Because of the fiber content and the fact that the body has to process the starch into sugar, it will not spike blood sugar the same way as other, unhealthier foods. It is one of the best sources of starch that contains other nutrients as well. If you're looking to avoid starch altogether, it is not a good option. However, keep in mind that you do need a certain amount of energy to live, and that energy has to come from somewhere. A lot of vegetables, like cucumber, lettuce, or cabbage literally do not have enough calories to survive on. The ones that have higher energy content, get it from starch, like potatoes, or sugars, like tomatoes or other fruits.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), glucose in rehydration solutions facilitates water and electrolyte absorption, enhancing rehydration effectiveness. @@JamEngulfer Yes, Oral Rehydration Solutions (ORS) use 6 teaspoons of sugar and 0.5 teaspoons of salt per liter to activate the sodium-glucose cotransport, which promotes effective hydration. Prime, however, uses artificial sweeteners like sucralose and acesulfame-K that do not support this hydration process. Sucralose can negatively affect gut health by disrupting gut microbiota and potentially causing “leaky gut” due to its breakdown into sucralose-6-acetate, which can damage the intestinal lining. Acesulfame-K has also been linked to possible heart health risks, highlighting concerns over the long-term effects of these artificial ingredients

That won't work in the world we live in. The consumers are partly to blame. Making it healthier means that it will increase the cost, and decrease shelf live by a decent margin. My best guess is that this product was made with its primary goal being profitability. The marketing is complete bullshit and shows just how stupid, ignorant or just exploitative the endorsers are. Calling ultra-processed trash food "healthy" because it has low calories and loads of electrolytes is ludicrous. You could say the same about seawater. Low calories is only a good thing if you intend on eating 3 of these for 1 meal, and well, since it definitely won't be nutritious or filling, you bet people are gonna need to source more food from somewhere. I think this is exploitative marketing that aims to misinform ignorant customers about what they are buying. Rampant obesity in developed nations such as the US is directly related to over-eating. An interest in low calorie food can only come from someone who overreats or is looking to lose weight. A product like this will likely have the opposite effect because it won't be filling. I personally do not over eat and am not looking to lose weight, so I tend to only consider the number of calories to make sure that I am eating enough food to keep me going. Therefore, I would never be interested in a product like this with such low energetic and nutritional value. Having a diet that contains enough energy and nutrition is important in functioning daily and in the development of children. Lunchly provides neither on its own. That said, I think there is a place for a product like this. I did occasionally have lunchables as a child and it was fun making giant stacks of ham and cheese. Lunchables are best paired with something more calorific and nutritious like leftover stir-fry or a bagel for example, then yes you will have a lunch with enough calories and nutrition - and I think most parents would understand this. My biggest issue is with the marketing and use of this product in exploitation.

Great video as always. I watched the response video from the medical professional that Logan was mocking, and was glad to see you jump in on the matter as well (it's a pretty good video on the topic of electrolytes). The issue of targeting young children with junky products for making money aside (IYKYK), there is no way these would be satiating enough or nutritionally sufficient to give a kid what they needed in a midday meal. I remember on the rare occasion we had these growing up (Lunchables used to be treated as a special 'treat' lunch item), we'd always have it supplemented by other things like fruit, yogurt, cheese and nuts, or some similar combination thereof. Speaking of their main marketing gimmick with Prime, the electrolytes - I do have a habit of keeping Liquid I.V. on hand for when we need it, but under no means is it a daily drink. I save it for when I'm feeling unwell (usually from gastro issues), because after a certain point I can feel the collective symptoms I usually get when I'm getting dehydrated. It does have some sugar in it, but not as much as other drinks (and I only have it sparingly anyways). I do think it's a good idea to have something shelf-stable with electrolytes in it on hand in case someone needs it, much like you might stock a first aid kit with some essentials like bandaids. Prime isn't necessarily the worst electrolyte supplement on the market but people can certainly do better. Read those labels!

@ajd85582 ай бұрын
Not even! You could make whole-grain sandwich with healthy toppings (if you're really time poor, peanut butter with banana or hummus with cucumber works!), add an apple, and you're good to go in 15 minutes or less. Unless your kid has special food needs, there's really not a good excuse for not making them a healthy lunch.

The thing is..... they are targeting a market that is already being used... it's not like they are creating a whole new category.... they're just targeting lunchables... Like, this is getting more hate than it deserves.... it's not like they are targeting basic lunches, they are just joining a market where the available brand is already bad for you anyways..... It's not like they are doing anything new nor are they going to make things worse.... it's literally just an alternative to another brand....

Lunchly isn’t the first scandal related to Mr Beast and is probably the least serious. He’s accused of hiring convicted pedophiles, running illegal lotteries, faking a lot of charity work and more. He has completely ignored all of them because he knows his child audience wont know if he doesn’t respond. Would be great if someone with your following could make a video on it to help force him to respond.

Big youtubers join to co-promote buzzwords filled product that turns out to lack substense, passing it as a good deed. *gasp, shock, horror* It is bad, it is disappointing, but once more the most shocking is that there would be customers for this. It's most likely more expensive than cooking a good meal, and worse. If you have kids, take time to care for them! Love the example of the of the food dudes. My son got a visit from "team broccoli" at daycare, went from being one of the few vegetable he didn't like (texture is different) to one of his favorite and it hasn't changed. Thoses kinds of initiative do help, but of course, they don't fill youtubers' pockets... what a world...

Packages like that shouldn't be consumed daily. I can see them as an option for a road trio or something, but not more than that. Also, the included drink is a bad idea. There are actually other a bit more healthy alternatives that include nuts and high high fiber crackers. Those are usually labeled as snacks, targeting adults. For some reason, many people associate kid's food with unhealthy junk.

Winter is a great time to cook stews and purees, cooking is a great pleasure when you have time to do it, and I think we all should learnt to. Its crazy how much is misunderstood about basic nutrition concepts. In spain eggs have awful reputation when its one of the healthiest foods you can get, and so cheap, just eat them boiled instead of frying them, mix the yolk with some tuna and tomato sauce and make them stuffed, add some mayo on top and I also add a couple drops if tabasco to the mix 👌

Mr Beast's philanthropy is shady AF. People are already finding parts that have been faked or exaggerated in his videos. Just to list a few: - He claimed he built a hospital, but he actually just painted one and used CGI to create a "before" image. - He claimed to rescue 100 dogs from dying and donated $100,000 to a dog charity, but the charity was found to actually buy dogs from puppy mills, and they have a no-kill policy. - He claimed to dig 100 wells, but some of them were shown to be duplicates and the locations did not match the video. - He claimed to build 100 houses in Africa, but CGI was used to make them look better condition. This is just a few that have been found so far. Quite frankly, I want to see evidence of what he HAS done at this point, because his channel has proven unreliable.

1:30 an average adolescent male will need up to 3000 kcal. Significantly more than an adult since they’re still growing. It’s also much more about how much nutrition you can squeeze into each calorie since at least in America getting enough calories does not seem to be an issue. I haven’t seen the video but from one look I can only imagine these products are piss poor when it comes to their nutritional value.
