I can´t assess this properly, because you know what we´re missing? A public statement from Whittaker herself!! It would be awesome to hear, what she thinks about this from her directly! Here's my thought. What if Peter Capaldi's Doctor hit his 12th and final regeneration. William Hartnell's (David Bradley) Doctor appears to help him find his grand daughter before his time is done. Jodi Whittaker turns out to be Susan and she agrees to be the "new" Doctor and continue to follow her grand father's legacy. Just a thought. Looking forward to however they introduce her I think she will be great.

Like before the many other doctors, with each new one announced a divide would occur 'This person will ruin Doctor Who' or 'He doesn't suit the roll..too old/too young' and so on before giving the actor a chance, I personally don't have an issue and think it's going to be interesting! I'm not against having a female Doctor by any means. But I *am* against having a female Doctor that isn't done *well*. I just don't trust the BBC to handle the new female Doctor in a compelling, well written, nuanced manner. Much like Bill had to remind the audience every single episode that she was gay, I don't trust the BBC not to beat us over the head with the fact the Doctor is a woman with every single episode. I fear the show could soon easily begin to drift into self parody. Sure, that's probably more a problem with Moffat more than anything else, but we'll have to see if Chibnall is any better. I hope he is.

I never thought I was being beaten over the head with Bill's sexuality. Did she mention it once or twice, and fancy someone? Sure, but would you say Moffat beat us over the head with Amy and Rory's relationship, or Donna's various beaus? IMO, I thought she was one of the most likable companions in nu-Who history. Very well acted, and very well written.

Great reaction vid. And impressive work getting to see it without spoilers, I wasn't as lucky so knew going in. A new doctor always causes division no matter the gender. We need to wait and see. I hope they write her well from the start, I have faith they will. Capaldi was brilliant in 9 and 10 but I felt like they took their time to give him his feet. Though that worked into his character.

I'm excited for Jodie Whittaker so I'm therefore giving her a chance. They were probably making this reveal trailer in a hurry and didn't have time to set up the current TARDIS prop. So, they probably just picked a cutout image of the 9th/10th Doctor TARDIS without thinking about continuity. Either that or Jodie is walking up to the 10th Doctor's TARDIS so he can wish her luck as they were both in Broadchurch.

Maybe she'll pull an Eccleston and stay for one series, maybe she'll stay for the usual three or maybe she'll leave after two.. You shouldn't judge before you've seen it just because she is a woman.
