MrMarilynMansonFan there isn't a clip, but a leaked picture of the doctor in what looks like a shed or garage admiring their new sonic screwdriver and wearing safety googles. They are in the same setting in a few clips from the trailer (when they have a blowtorch and the last scene where they speak). This also matches up with what Chibnall said, that there is a bit of a story to how the doctor gets their screwdriver in the first episode. I'm pretty sure they make it themself using human tools and bits and pieces they find lying around. I do actually have a leaked video (unrelated to the screwdriver, but from the first episode) on my channel (if it hasn't been taken down yet).

The weird thing with the Se7en20 version is that the french translation on the front of the box ("Tournevis sonique du Douzième Docteur") means "Twelfth Doctor's sonic screwdriver". "Thirteenth Doctor" should have been translated "Treizième Docteur".

The TARDIS tries to have the screw driver appeal and fit to the newest doctor in a way they can't live without it. This time she was stuck making a dodgy rushed version so she could get things done. I hope with the next redesign they decide to make it more like a tube instead of what they have now and have it keep the wooden/metal grain feel to it. Maybe keep the crystal and mix it with 12's handle. Keep the light Orange that gives it a unique tenderness that feels like it hums when it is used. The next time the redesign it. I hope they keep the Sheffield steal mark.

Looking at the production artwork for the sonic, the CO version actually seems to be the most accurate of the pair. I just think CO could have made it look less cheap

Funny enough, if you take a look at the leaked images of the sonic screwdriver from a little while ago, the seven20 sonic actually looks more accurate in terms of proportions. My theory is that they're using the CO toy for promotional images, which I don't think is unrealistic considering how they've used the CO 11th doctor sonic in some scenes of series 7 and 8.

Since this is a new Sonic video, I thought this might be a good place to ask... Which toy of Ninth's/Tenth's is the most accurate? I know that there have been so, SO many releases of it over the years with both major and minor differences, so it's a little difficult to keep track of which is the best. Any opinions would be appreciated. :)

all the 9th/10th sonic toys that extend are the same mold essentially, so each is equally inaccurate. If you want a series 1-2 look then I'd recommend the regular 10th doctor sonic because it has the black wiring in the tube, but if you want the series 3-4 look then get the day of the doctor version since that one has the yellow wires. Ideally you'd want to get both and switch the handles and emitters with each other for maximum accuracy on a budget. Another option if you just want accuracy is the version that comes with the vortex manipulator and the journal of impossible things. I feel that one is closer in scale to the prop than the CO toy is (I have it as well as the CO toy and the 10th doctor universal remote so I've verified this). Also, all the details are present on the Journal of impossible things version, and is accurate to the original prop used in the 9th doctor era. The main disadvantages is that it's a little smaller than the actual prop, and it doesn't extend or have sound. Unfortunately none of the toys produced for this design have an accurate slider mounted button. Your most accurate option for an easily affordable price that also extends and has sound is the CO 10th doctor toy with the grey handle.

I was very excited and nervous at the same time because watching your videos and on amazon, I saw three different versions of the same thing, and I got the seven20. I’m still loving this new review setup with Anthony. It’s fantastic and works so well for comedic effect. The beer cans slowly multiplying was a nice touch! As for the screwdrivers I have absolutely no clue what the Doctor Who team were going for when designing it. Was it meant to look like stone with crystal coming through it? Is it just a random lump of metal? Why does it have the twist in the centre? It’s a completely bizarre design.

I picked up the Seven20 screwdriver at the mall early this week, and I have to be honest, I fell in love almost instantly. Especially the whirling crystal. It also fits really comfortably in the hand. I think this is the first time in the history of prop toys that major changes to a design made it much better. I got my Se7en20 on a few days ago. Indeed it is screw hole city on the right face of the sonic. However, because of the turd-like design, its fairly easy to cover those holes up. I just used plumbers' epoxy putty to plug each hole, sanded them down, touched up the paint, and weathered the whole sonic with liquid shoe polish. Quick and easy fix.

The "wood" texture on the Seven20 looks for all the world like an unsmoothed 3D print. I have a feeling that's exactly what it is -- they printed the prototype with an FDM printer and cast the production version directly off of it. That alone is enough to put me off their version. I have a build-your-own sonic, with 4 interchangeable parts, but had the flaw of brittle, kinda fragile plastic on one of the emitters, I fixed mine, but once the batteries ran out, I pulled them, & now it's more of a display piece. Kinda wish I could make a more sturdy version....

For me, by far what I consider the Sonic Screwdriver is either Tom Baker's or Peter Capaldi's. This one. I just don't know what to call it. It's not a Sonic Screwdriver that's for sure. I get what the show was going for when designing it. Making it smaller so it's easier to put in pockets, but it's also just. Bad. I'll stick with the Seven20 (as I'm in America) but that and the 13th Doctor Funko Pop figure is probably all the merch I'm buying for Series 11. But as for Sonic Screwdrivers in the show as a whole, I'm sticking to my 12th Doctor Sonic Screwdriver. All in all, great review. I agree with all of your points that were brought up. I must have a different one from even those two AND the light painting one. Mine looks like the Se7en20 with the wood look, has two buttons, but one button is for the regular sonic sound (with a slight extra electronic “clink” sound when activating only and the rough click of the button releasing when deactivating), and the other is for the diagnostic in which the jewel actually turns too. I kind of like how the jewel moves. No legalese but yes a ton of screw holes. The two body parts can also rotate at the thin joint in the middle as well, about 90 degrees or so. Not sure why, but there it is. I know it’s not the best designed Sonic in the show, but I don’t mind it as much as some do. I figure in this Doctor’s case, she had to make it from scratch whereas the other Doctors had theirs handed to them brand spanking new and all sleek courtesy of the Tardis.

Stephen, I think you've reached the point that some fans reach with their fandoms where no matter what is done with the property, they can't be happy. This has been the case with a lot of Star Wars fans for a long time, and personally, I hate everything to do with Star Trek, post-First Contact. I haven't seen series 10 of Doctor Who yet (my cable provider moved BBC America into a higher-priced tier), but I loved every episode of series 9, even though I'm not a huge fan of Capaldi. Every episode of series 9 was at least good, and many were brilliant (unlike series 8, which was about half clunkers). I'm open-minded for Jodie, and I'm not going to automatically shit on the show without seeing it. If you don't like Doctor Who anymore, then just do what I did with Star Trek: STOP WATCHING the new stuff, and just enjoy the older stuff. I used to love your reviews and your channel, but you've degenerated into just another channel where the creator complains about everything. And that's a bummer.

If the design of the sonic is any indication, this series is gonna flop..... Peter Capaldi recovered doctor who, in my opinion. even making a turd writing script a work of art in most cases, but after David Tennant and RTD left, doctor who kinda missed something...
