ffs CO the sonic STILL doesn't have a rotating emitter! Btw the rotating emitter first appeared in Rosa, when the Doctor opens the door and enters that warehouse where the suitcase is.

I'm still not a fan of the design, but credit where it's due, this is a big improvement. Sound chip is still great, lights are better. I'd probably buy this to take it apart for those. Not too shabby if you are a fan of the sonic's design though. Doesn't forgive that it wasn't released in this state. Edit: Also, I think this version beats the hell out of the Seven20 version. Useless button aside, the spinning part just seemed like a gimmick to me anyway. But that's just me.

Huh, I had the re-release this whole time. That explains a lot, cos I was always really impressed by how bright mine is. I love this Sonic design, even though it's quite divisive. I think it's a really cool departure from the normal, more precisely machined style.

the fact Jodie never got a proper screwdriver is yet another testament to Chibbie's... well everything. looks awful to this day, but if the tardis constructed a more refined version of this design that would've been better than a scrap screwdriver that only malfunctioned once

If I had to guess, and it is merely a guess, at some point they were going to put a rotating feature and that button would active it. They decided that having the crystal rotate would be too much work, but didn't want to order new body molds.

Thanks for mentioning where the touch sensor is, been shacking and tilting and flinging mine around trying to figure out how it works.. Also, it’s kinda cool that depending on how long you press the actual button or touch sensor, the emitter can glow for a second and turn off while the body is still glowing. Still looks like dog turd to me and it really shouts out that’s it’s more toy than replica, but overall the new design has won me over on the show. Love the yellow emitter color, and sound chip and I think an actual metal replica would be absolutely badass in anyone’s screwdriver collection.

I've taken apart the casing of the Screwdriver (by using a screwdriver, lol) and can confirm that the 'top' button doesn't do anything as it's held in place with a cover behind it.

The production design of series 11 was just terrible looking back on it. There's nothing from that series I would want as a toy. Series 12 at least had the new Cyberman designs. Even the Cybermaster design was great. Now, it just getting Character options to MAKE them.

I watched your first review w the first CO release and the Seven20 one, and bought the latter last week because the spinning crystal gimmick really impressed me. CO did a nice job with this second release, but I’m wondering if they’ve plans to do another one with all the features of 13’s sonic anyway? Maybe. Still haven't seen the Character Options version for sale here. I picked up the Seven20 a couple weeks ago, and I was impressed with the way the four separate LEDs for lighting each flashed in individual patterns, unsynchronized with each other...also if the seams of the Character Options one are as bad as they seem in this video, yuck...

About 4 months ago, I brought the UK version of the this screwdriver.. not happy! 😡 There’s sooo many obvious screws and joins around it that completely ruins the design.. I’ve ordered the seven20 US version of the sonic and hopefully it’s way better 🙏

Thank you for your videos. I didn't realize there were two options for the Thirteenth Doctor's sonic. The Characters Options is very bright and very bulky. The Seven20 one is very sleek and presents a better aesthetic overall. And yet, I still don't know which one to get. XD. Because, watching the episodes, and looking at reference pics of the Doctor, her sonic is much more bulky. It's driving me insane trying to decide which one to get: the better looking one (Seven20) or the more screen/ canon accurate one (Character Options)?
