TO WHOM EVER SPOILED THIS FOR HER: One of the reasons I love this channel is that while I can never watch these episodes for the first time again I do get to watch her reaction. And while this is a different felling I get to enjoy her joy, sadness and curiosity of which is the next best thing. So I say on to you and anyone else that wants to spoil anything: be better. FFS why do people spoil it? Do they not want people to have the unspoiled experience they did.
@JeshuaSquirrel2 ай бұрын
"Unspoiled experience". That's funny given the current nature of internet genre discourse. So many complain about spoilers but then there are all the articles about leaks or speculation of casting lists and story details of upcoming movies and shows. I remain convinced that widespread speculation of story points was a big contributor to the disappointment of the last season of Game of Thrones and the disappointment in the Star Wars sequel movies and shows and Marvel movies and shows. People build up their expectations and when the story is different from their imaginations, they claim it is terrible. Or, as in the case of GOT, some speculation gets too close to the truth that the production team changes the story so they can still have their surprise even though the reason some can guess the ending is actually a testament to the fantastic storytelling to that point. It means the story makes sense. Another case is if someone mentions a story idea on a forum the writer or showrunner might see, there is now a potential legal issue. This has happened many times. When Babylon 5 was in production, the showrunner maintained a Usenet account to discourse with fans. One of his hard rules, even now, is "no story ideas". Of course, someone suggested an idea that was already planned to be a story. That suggestion delayed that story significantly because they now had to deal with potential legal issues. Thus I am distressed about story speculation online because that is an almost guarantee that story will not happen.

My responsibilty as a Norwegian: "Dårlig Ulv Stranden" a) should have an "å" in it, b) is not pronounced like that, and c) translates to "Sick Wolf Beach", NOT "Bad Wolf Bay". They really did just open a dictionary and grab the first things and left it at that, and it's extremely funny to me. Oh and the beach is very obviously in the UK, there are zero beaches like that in Norway.

To be fair it was Rose who pronounced it that way and was only there because she heard the Doctor. It’s not like she moved there or researched it in much detail before hand. People also use bad to mean sick in the uk “I’m feeling a bit bad today” = I’m a bit sick. So it is possibly it was translated differently in that universe. And yeah Doctor Who was still pretty low budget back then so they used a UK beach. Thank you for the interesting information though! Always interesting what non UK folks think about Doctor Who.

This was the last scene filmed for this season, and apparently there were actual filming difficulties because so many of the crew were crying THAT hard.

I have loved these reactions so much that I had to join Patreon to get ahead of them 😂such a good episode and overall series. Cannot wait for the Christmas special 😁 also, love the little editor asides and the continuation of the finger snap gag 😂 I’ve heard the Cyberman vs dalek back and forth being referenced as ‘the bitch fight at Canary Wharf’ 😂

I remember Alex Kingston staring in the 1996, "The Fortunes and Misfortunes of Moll Flanders". A BBC Drama 4 episode TV series. Co staring Daniel Craig. Based on the 1772 Daniel Defoe bawdy novel.

That's the trouble with people commenting on stuff, they never realise just what can be a spoiler. And so their innocent little comment, assuming everyone knows about this thing to come, can ruin things. I remember being told some stupid throw away comment about a character not dying in a show I used to watch, the person telling me thought they were being so smart by "pretending" to give me a spoiler, but it not really being one. I then guessed what scenario would lead them to thinking about something as a spoiler and then twisting it into a "not a spoiler". So they spoiled it for me. To be fair to people, I don't think they fully grasp how good people can be at working out what the logic behind their comment can tell them. For instance, by saying Rose leaves at the end of this season it not only spoils the fact Rose is going to be written out of the show on the last episode, it also removes any fear for that character on any of the episodes prior to the last one. I resisted mentioning that Rose was not my favourite New Who companion because I realise the implication there is that there will be a different companion than Rose, and so what happens to her? For all I knew, you had no idea that Rose was not still the companion to this day.

The Doctors' taunting of the Daleks reminds me of an interview with Richard Martin, who directed them in their earliest adventures. He described their hysteria as coming from a place where, trapped inside their casings, they were very nearly insane with claustrophobia. And wouldn't we all be if that's the only place you felt you could survive?

Russell Davies made it a point to end every season with a giant cliff-hanging WTF moment. Basically, he's telling the audience, 'the chapter is over, but never the story. It goes on.'

So sorry someone spoiled Rose's exit for you. There's no need for people to post spoilers of any kind or to hint at what might might or might not be coming up in future episodes or seasons. In real time, we mostly knew when doctors and companions were going to leave/arrive because casting was formally announced in the press. I think many fans would prefer not to have known in advance though as it spoils the surprise. I'm really glad Rose and her extended family got such a dramatic and fitting send-off. After two lacklustre and forgettable episodes in 'Love and Monsters' and 'Fear Her', this two-parter was further evidence that Russell knows how to pull off a season finale. The sassy stand-off between the Daleks and Cybermen was great. It had to be one of those playground debates fans had as kids, who would win in a battle between the two! Other than the Torchwood theme running through the season, you also picked up on how Rose and the Doctor had let their guard down too often during Series 2. Running from adventure to adventure with giddy excitement, giving the impression they were indestructible. That finally came back to bite them in this dramatic battle at London's Canary Wharf. If you wanted to dip into Torchwood (the series) by the way, Season 1 started airing in October 2006, three months after "Series 2 of Doctor Who" (TM Angela) finished. Most of the episodes aired before the 2006 Doctor Who Christmas Special (the Torchwood two-part finale aired on New Year's Day 2007), but it's not essential. Meanwhile, the pilot episode of The Sarah Jane Adventures also aired on New Year's Day 2007! But the full first season didn't start until after Doctor Who Season Three. I hope that's helpful.

I haven't seen the spoilers being talked about yet. Was it people saying they're excited for the new companion in Series 3 without thinking that by saying this it's basically confirming Rose would leave?

I think I could watch that scene at Bad Wolf Bay a million times and I'd be in tears every last one. It's heartbreaking. I grew up watching in the late 70s and 80s so Tom Baker is "my" doctor along with Sarah Jane, but there's really something special about Rose.

I can finally tell you that Billie's last S2 scene shot was the end of "The Satan Pit" 🤯 If you rewatch the end sequence both David & Billie are very emotional & struggle to get through it as Billie talks about "dying in battle" before Tennant says "Then it lied" 😭😭 End of an era! Often in movies & TV shows they are filmed out of sequence due to location if some didn't know. This being the case

That scene on Bad Wolf bay- and the fantastic music score that goes with it - had us mourning for weeks back in the day! Anyone who wants cheering up after that - please go and look at the video by Ashens 'Cyberman Call Centre' which uses footage from the Dalek/ Cyberman diss-off in this episode hilariously (no spoliers, it only uses footage from this episode, and doesn't reference DW at all).
