This episode is a perfect example of how continuity is everything in storytelling. Btw, Mr Copper was the old man from the Titanic episode. He ended up with about £1 million at the end of the episode and put it towards creating the subwave network.

Just incase you didn’t hear in the episode. Dalek Caan was the one who flew into the time war and helped save Davros and thus enabled him to create a new race of Daleks. Dalek Caan was the last dalek in existence who was a member of the Cult of Skaro who we saw in Army of Ghosts/Doomsday and Daleks in Manhattan/Evolution of the Daleks. At the end of the latter if you recall Dalek Caan teleported through time and we find out here that he went back into the time war by chance.

I know you weren't keen on the first couple of episodes, but I'm really glad you saw Genesis of the Daleks before this. The excitement of you realising it was Davros made this reaction for me. And it also underlines why Sarah-Jane was so terrified: she's seen him before and knows how awful he is. And sorry you were spoiled, but even after all these years and knowing they're all back I just love rewatching all the different series tie together. I still get excited by that even now.

I remember little 10 year old me watching this back in 2008… it absolutely blew my mind and that of all my classmates at school. The cliffhanger literally gripped a large portion of the country and was absolutely top tier doctor who! Lover watching your reaction to this and amazing to see how invested you are now! That scene when the Daleks are first revealed... you're right, it feels *scary*. When the immortal man is terrified, you know you've got something bad on your hands. Also, the names you mentioned at 5:20 mostly are references to previous episodes! The Abzorbaloff from 2x10 is from Clom, Adipose-3 is the lost planet that the Adipose are from in 4x1, Pyrovillia is the lost planet of the Pyroviles from 4x2, and the Lost Moon of Poosh was mentioned in 4x10 by Dee Dee (I think she wrote her thesis on it)! 10:44 Mr. Copper is from Voyage of the Damned, he's the old man that The Doctor left on Earth. This is one of my favourite episodes of the show, and it was especially cool to see your reaction. Davros, Torchwood, Sarah Jane, the regeneration, and that cliffhanger! Seeing you shout "No!" when you heard the sting of the main theme was amazing. This is easily my favourite reaction of yours and I'm really excited to see what you think of the next one.

Definitely the craziest cliffhanger I’ve ever watched, the entire rose buildup was so big the whole season only for that to happen at the end. The “Lost moon of Poosh” they mention during the Shadow Proclamation scene is a reference to Dee Dee from “Midnight” and her project of looking for it that she spoke to the doctor about. Klom is the planet that the absorbing alien from “Love and Monsters” said he was from in Series 2. And Mr Copper is the old man from Voyage of the Damned who was rich at the end, he set up the foundation with some of that money

It was a bold choice to have Matt Smith have his first episode be at the end of a Tennant season. It hadn't happened since the 5th Doctor regenerated and that was a disaster but its a great episode and he manages to have decent chemistry with the cast.

The planets the doctor mentions in the shadow proclamation arent just random. Pyrovillia is the planet that the creatures in fires of Pompeii were from, the adipose breeding planet that was lost, and they mention in midnight the lost moon of poosh. I believe these are the only ones the doctor mentioned in this scene but it's cool that RTD had little easter eggs in the whole season that leads up to the season finale.

Im unable to watch the whole vid as i don't have my headphones... but your reactions were everything... this cliffhanger put the nation on hold... literally no one expected it! And that’s how it should be. A huge problem with todays movies and tv shows that I’ve spoken about with my friends is that they show too much. In trailers and tv spots. And I’d even say for upcoming Doctor who stuff, with Tennet’s return and Ncuti Gatwa as the doctor. However, on the other hand I guess they have to do it to promote their show. These days I don’t watch most trailers that are released cause they reveal too much. Can’t wait to watch the next episode :)

​@HamzaReactz With RTD ... u don't have to worry... if things get revealed in trailers, its usually cos they are more difficult to hide eg outside filming that public/fans have already seen, or he'll spread rumours himself for publicity 😅 .... but then he's got a bigger twist planned that no one has seen... for example daleks in series 2 finale, Face of Boe reveal as Jack, or Yana as the Master... or Harriet Jones and this regeneration. .. he knows how to get the publicity going and what to hide...so you always feel rewarded... for example we all know that Torchwood and SJS were in this as well as Martha, and there was a hint in the trailers that Davros was back...but we didn't know about Caan... so I'm kind of jealous of u having the chance to watch it when it's not being promoted or talked about... unless someone here spoils it or the thumbnail... u have no idea... absolutely jealous 😅 I've just watched the whole reaction with the sound... your reactions made me laugh a few times... like about how Torchwood can't die as there's two more seasons 🤣 The reunion is such an RTD thing!!! He gets our hopes up... only to have a Dalek get in the middle 😂 I don't know if you've ever watched a bollywood film bit after this moment i kind of wish Daleks did the same every time we get the cheesy hero and heroine running to each other 😂😂 Many of us were in denial after that Regen.... I was not ready for David to go... like I said before it stunned the whole nation... and we've not had this commotion again for the show until very recently.... its a fantastic episode... never fails to slow down.... 4 years of world building to this epic moment.... hands down RTD knows how to create a buzz, characters and world building... I cannot wait for his return.... Oh and final thing.i love how Harriet again is used to show the ambiguity of Ten's decisions to get rid of her.. .. I mean first we got saxon, and now she's died saving the world cos she didn't think the Doctor will always be there too do so....

By the way, there’s lots of planets that have been referenced before that were moved Clom from Love & Monsters (The Abzorbaloff’s planet) Lost Moon of Poosh from Midnight (The Professor and Deedee were studying it) Adipose Breeding Planet 3 from Partners in Crime (That’s why all the adipose were on Earth) I believe there was the bee planet, that’s why they were all disappearing, they’re actually aliens from another planet 😂. That’s how the Doctor and Donna found Earth again There’s probably a few others

You've finally reached the series 4 finale. I remember back in June 2008 when I was 7 years old, my brother forced me to watch this episode on I Player the day after it aired because he was obsessed with it, at the time I was very hit and miss with Dr Who but this episode had me gripped. Then I had to wait the following week for Journey's end to air and it was agonising, but it didn't disappoint at all. Fantastic double parter and it will always be my favourite dr who finale. FINALLY you know why we wanted you to see Genesis of the Daleks! Seeing this without having been introduced to Davros is just weird. Like “who is that maniac?” There is a ton of classic who which is helpful for this ep but none so much as Genesis. This episode is full of surprises. And had the biggest set of cliffhangers of any ep. And we had to wait a week! You can click on the next ep right away (which is strongly recommend before anyone spoils stuff). If you rewatch the season (heck the series) you will see how many seeds were planted for this episode. Can I add how funny it was to see Rose jealous of Martha? That’s a switch.

The “Shadow Proclamation” was first mentioned by the Ninth Doctor in the very first episode of New Who “Rose.” When you watch the next episode finale, make sure it’s the uncut full length 63 minute version and not the cut-down 42 min commercial TV version that sometimes shows up on streaming services.

The cliffhanger was huge back in the day, the first time we had a proper regeneration 1/2 way through (or 66% through- whether Turn Left/The Stolen Earth/4x13 is a 3 parter or Turn Left & The Stolen Earth/4x13 are 2 stories is up for debate). It made the news + had betting shops taking wagers on who the Doctor would be, when 4x13 aired the following Saturday, on top of usual bets on sports results. Like the closest before this that we had the 16th Master/Yana Master regenerating into the 18th (Wibbly Wobbly Timey Whimey, even more so during the last Time War)/Saxon Master, 1/3 through S3 finale. In the case of the Doctor, the closest would be, one time in classic Who, when he started to regenerate at the 3/4 mark of the story, but held off, though he still did regenerate at the end Technically two regens occured at the start of their stories but tbf they were unique circumstances in both cases.

Davros does actually return in the classic series after genesis, a later fourth doctor story has the Daleks come to revive him due to needing help in a war, if you want to know which story that is it's called Destany of the Daleks

I remember this being all that anyone was talking about at school for weeks when it aired! Everyone was debating who the next Dr would be, who might be in danger etc. I think we should go back to weekly releases for most TV shows. We've lost so much joy and imaginative thinking through binge streaming culture. There was so much fun in discussing what people thought would happen next. I hope Dr. Who never resorts to releasing a full series in one day.

I completely agree with you. Not sure if you’re aware but they have started to do the weekly format again. Disney plus does it. Amazon video does it. AMC + does it. The fan base gets to spend a week inbetween each episode speculating and theorising what’s gonna happen next and I love that :)

I can honestly say when i watched this airing live that regen was NOT SEEN COMING ... waiting a week for the next episode was PAINFUL. fun fact though... *spoilers for original series if you haven't seen doctor 5/6* Peter Davison's last season had him regenerate 1 episode before the finale as well with Colin Baker taking over for 1 episode. It was the first time the doc regenerated before the finale of a season/series.

RTD has really done an amazing job with these episodes and it makes me soo happy he’s coming back for series 14. Can’t wait to see what he’s gonna give us with Ncuti Gatwas Doctor. Can’t wait to watch more :)

@HamzaReactz Don't worry it's only the most recent 3 series, you've still got plenty great Moffat stuff and who knows maybe you'll like Chibnall's style. Personally think Chibs doesn't suit Sci-fi tho and is much better with Dramas like Broadchurch. Either way, you've got a pretty consistently fun ride guaranteed till Series 11

sux u got spoilt a bit... such a special finale. love how into it u were also, now u know that Davros returns, the video i recommended about Genesis of the Daleks should now be watchable (tho i recommend skipping the parts i mention as spoilery)... this isn't his first return, but i figured u would appreciate experiencing the twist that he somehow survives for yourself. This episode was my introduction to Davros, so I never got to experience that twist...

@@HamzaReactz it's not their best video, but they are super into the story, so it's interesting to see them enthuse about it. some soft spoilers for the moffat era exist in the video, but just avoid the following bit to avoid the stuff definitely worth avoiding: there's some spoilery stuff at 50:36-55:00.. there's like chat about Genesis in the latest batmanmarch video released 2 hours ago. tho they chat about current stuff for the first section. idk if ur interested in such things, but they make good videos, so this could be illuminating for you to watch if ur into such things. coz i'm sure they love it. it's an hour long, tho the first section which you should skip i imagine is 20ish minutes.

I watched it last night. Yeah, I enjoy those types of videos. When I’m not watching reaction videos I’m usually watching those types of videos for marvel or Star Wars. I’m gonna sub to their channel once I’m caught up, not now cause I don’t wanna get spoiled by something in their thumbnail or title :)

Yeah I understand what you mean. I’ve thought about turning off the comments but that’ll destroy the interactive part of the videos. Reading other people’s comments and seeing their thoughts on episodes is something love to do. And it’ll also mean I won’t get fun facts commented about episodes from viewers.
