Doctor Who 60th Anniversary Limited Edition Blu Ray US Boxset Review

After 12 days of not knowing about my order, I now have the Doctor Who 60th Anniversary Limited Edition Blu Ray US Boxset. And... let's just say, we need to talk. CoMe cheggit out.

Can you comment on the quality/ format of series 1-4 compared to the older blu-ray release? Also at least one youtuber claims that the new UK 1-4 upscales are 1080i 50. Are these US discs 24p?

I do believe they are 1080i 50, as that's what Ive been told. it doesnt say anywhere on the actual boxes, nor do I know for sure myself. That said, the CG, and the live action w/ visual effects compositing looks a lot more seamless and smoother here than I've ever seen it. I've watched the original blu rays and on HBO Max in HD, and these look better. I dont think they went back to recomposite anything, but theyve somehow cleaned up the original source material, mostly likely with AI assist if I had to guess. Also, the eyes, the window to the soul, you can clearly make out eye colors which is a sign of a good HD conversion. As for 24 fps, I think it's something else, either between 25 - 30 fps, because in the episode The Unquiet Dead, when we went into the basement, it had that soap-opera feel to it, which means it was something other than 24 fps. Still, this is the best I have ever seen these episodes look. That is my report.

I believe the price works out to about $1 per episode which is pretty cheap. I got this set today and will also be throwing them in new cases.

Hows it going? I'm considering getting this set since I'm a big DW fan. But I'm not all that impressed with the cases. Any way I can buy a set of the custom cases like the ones you designed? Thanks.

Would that I could. Buuuuut, I don't want to run afoul of BBC. You can order 6x disc cases from Amazon. As for the inserts, again, BBC, and it would cost more than it's worth for me to print them for you. Perhaps I could share a link with the files in them, maybe? So you could download and print them yourself?
