I went crazy when I heard his voice. I knew who it was straight away.

My reaction was; "Eh...?" "I know that voice..." "Fuck! John Hurt!!" "What? WHAT?". I did theorise (incorrectly, of course) that he would be the _final_ Doctor, the "old man" who The Great Intelligence mentioned who died at Trenzalore. I thought that he'd be the main antagonist of the next series, not a 'bad guy' per se, just a man at odds with the current Doctor; an enemy who could out-think The Doctor, predict his every move because he literally _was_ him. And The Doctor would not only have to fight to stop him, but had to fight to stop _becoming_ him!

I know this is really old, but wanted to point out that the show subtly told us who he was. Clara started at the top when she jumped into the Doctor's timestream, diving down lower, and lower, the Doctors showing up in reverse. Going from 12 backwards to the first we saw on TV. But then she hit 'Bottom'. The very bottom. She would be where the original was, the first, before everyone else. The Original Doctor in the beginning, the one in The Time War.

John Hurt was a great actor. His repertoire in film was very big. He did a little bit of everything and had his hits as well as his misses. He endured a lot of makeup when playing the Elephant Man. He did animated films like Watership Down and The Black Cauldron. Most American audiences would recognize him as the first to die in the movie Alien. He was basically Sean Bean before Sean Bean as almost every character he played, especially if it was a villain, ended up dying. One movie he was in was based on actual events in the 1970's. It's called Night Crossing, a Disney movie that tells the story of two families daring escape attempt from East Germany in a homemade hot air balloon. Wonderfully done and a good history lesson on people wanting to be free. John Hurt passed away after a battle with pancreatic cancer. The War Doctor earned his rest.

she says "I wanted to know his name!".. so this reactor who wanted us all to think she was so smart by spilling the answer of the secret incarnation in advance of the reveal, in reality totally missed the point. (and 11 even says, "my real name is not the point!" just to make it clear) and besides, she blurts out "John HOLT!" not John Hurt...and 8.5...obviously something read in advance, but not really grasped. This is a wonderful mashup video -- except for her trying to ruin in for everyone to show off...

Thaddeus Cornell (1) That video was clearly about her reaction to watching it for the first time, and (2) no where does it state that this is a first-watch reaction. It's his channel, he can do whatever he wants. Some people do reaction videos after the umpteenth time watching something. So long as they don't pretend that it's a first time reaction then that is a perfectly valid reaction video.

Blake Dale I'm sorry to be commenting in a negative fashion on your video. I'm slightly annoyed that she had knowledge of what was going to happen, it kind of makes your reaction to the event less genuine in my view. I never doubted she was watching it for the first time, but I was annoyed that she had either done research on the episode before hand or had seen the big reveal before watching the episode. I don't find her reaction with foreknowledge very ligament since we can't truly see what her reaction to the reveal was.

I'm still hoping that Blake does a reaction compilation for THE NIGHT OF THE DOCTOR! I've seen five or six different reactions that people have put on KZbin. Does anyone know of any more?

When I looked some time ago there really weren't that many, and even a couple of those were people watching Night of the Doctor for the 2nd/3rd time and so you don't get the reaction to the 8th Doctor appearing on screen, which I assume is what most reactopm viewers would be looking for. It's an awesome mini-episode, I loved it.

Thanks! Doing mashups to tv episodes are a real pain, more so than any other type of mashup, because people make so many cuts to their videos that it takes me ages to sync them all up. In other words, it would be too much work for this lazy video editor lol. The last time I did that was "Day of the Doctor" which is not an experience I ever want to have to repeat! :D

yea maybe I don't have the right to call a person a fan or not but there is no way she looked at the back of him and in a split second shout "john hurt" and the whole "8.5" part. She had to have looked at the leaked information before the episode came out which makes me question a person being a fan of the show (which i hope she is if she is making reaction videos) plus there is no point to doing a reaction video to an episode if you already know what is going to happen. This is not a question of intelligence and I didn't meant to sound insulting as I did when I wrote the original comment I shouldn't have really called her annoying even if I found it annoying. I just find making a reaction video when you already looked up the information pointless and a waste of time.

Just an opinion, The Gal who says" john hurt", The guy that says ten "turns into a cartoon character"(regeneration video) , and the other guy who says " Was she on the set of guardians of the galaxy " (11's regeneration) Completely break any tension the scenes have.

When I watched these scenes live I had people next to me saying almost exactly the same things those reactor's said. That's why I like including those sorts of reactions (back when I used to make reaction mashups) because it is more realistic of sitting in a room with a large group of people. :)
