What about the reference to Uncle Digby? Remember that Digby was one of the children from the first book who were in Narnia when it was created. He took a magical apple home to cure his dying mother and then planted the core. Eventually the wood from the resulting tree was used to make the magical wardrobe that was kept in his county manor when he was an old man. The children in LW&W. The children were then evacuated to Uncle Digby’s house during the war and so began the adventure.

I don't know if anyone else has mentioned this in the comments but the planet Androzani Major mentioned in this episode was the location of the 5th Doctor's final story, "The Caves Of Androzani". So, that was a nice nod for those of us who are classic fans too. Also, the soldiers from there seen in this episode are all well-known comedy actors over here in the U.K.

Been through most of the comments, and couldn't see this reference, so apologies if anyone else has already mentioned it. The solar system in which the story is set, the Androzani system, is the same as the last story of the 5th Doctor, The Caves of Androzani.

Re: presents on Christmas Eve - I'm from the UK and my family has always had a tradition of buying pyjamas to open on Christmas Eve. And a most of the people I know have similar traditions (some of them open pjs, some open 1 small present). Its quite common were I live to do this on Christmas Eve

The TV Movie is Fully Canonical. Moffat did say that we as fans simply can’t ignore what was said in the TV Movie. I agree with him. The Genie is out of the Bottle. Lol.

For Series 6, the Christmas Special ended the season but it was within a short wait. And then the 7th series started in the fall, next year (2012). Moffat was also producing Sherlock at the time. Doctor Who series 6 was released in 2011, the year we lost two classic series actors. Sherlock series 2 was released in 2012. A really fun Easter egg appears in series 7. I leave it to you to find it.

He only time jumped somewhere between a few weeks and a few months (they never say exactly). It had been 3 years from the time the episode started to when he went to war but, only a short time between the night he had supposedly died to this Christmas. That's why Madge hadn't told the kids yet, 'cause she got the telegram so close to Christmas.

Well its canon that he says hes part human. The Doctor lies. Personally I like to think that since weve seen him use a device to make himself fully human (Human Nature), that saying hes part human allows for lots of possibilities other than having an actual human parent. Maybe his mother was 'temporarily' human when he was conceived?

Well, the whole thing is canon, it's just up for debate whether the Doctor is lying in that moment or not. Most people just assume he's lying (since it's just a little throwaway line) but, the show has purposely kept it ambiguous whether there might be some truth to it. Personally, I kinda like them keeping the answer to that a little bit ambiguous, just 'cause it gives even more mystery to the Doctor's origins and you're free to choose whichever answer is more interesting to you.

Yup, barring a few hiccups that haven't been explained, or have just been glossed over, like the Doctor claiming to be half-human, or the fact that that was supposed to be the Master's last regeneration. Mind you, then again I suppose it's possible that Yana, Saxon and Missy are all regenerations that came before the Eric Roberts regeneration of the Master.

@@JakkFrost1 In "the sound of drums" the Master (John Simm) mentioned that the Timelords "resurrected" him for the Time War. It's a characteristically Russel T. Davies method of off-handedly setting up ways of explaining away apparent canon problems. In this case, presumably the "resurrection" included a new regeneration cycle. They couldn't have one of their most dangerous warriors going into war with just one life to lose, surely..
