I think this season is really shaping up to be something special, each episode manages to top itself. 10/10 episode, love the setup for the (possibly) main villains of the season. The outfits look great!

Wow....where to start. The wardrobe has some welcome cameos. Colin Bakers jacket, Davison's classic look, the usual scarf, and Little Red's jacket. Gotta appreciate the little touches. Next, it was jarring to see Alan Rafferty in something other than Time Agent, but a welcome surprise. He fit the role well, short lived as it was. The Movement promises to be something to look forward to. Kudos for bringing back the Voc from classic (took me a few minutes and reading a comment after finishing, but I KNEW I had seen them before. Of all things, to see them in a space hospital. And speaking of the Doctor, he has a new reality to adjust to--no regenerative energy here to replace the cut off hand. Things certainly are taking a gritty turn, and when plot takes a nose dive like this, its always a window into how a particular doctor deals with it, fandoc or not.

A Riveting Journey through Time: DW2012 Episode 5 - The Summer of '82 As an ardent fan of DW2012, I am thrilled to share my detailed and utterly captivated review of Episode 5: The Summer of '82. This particular instalment left me in awe, showcasing the remarkable storytelling prowess of the creative team behind the series. First and foremost, I must commend the introduction of the new monster, the Movement. The sheer creativity and imagination displayed in bringing this creature to life were nothing short of astounding. From its terrifying appearance to its unique abilities, the Movement injected a fresh sense of intrigue and suspense into the episode. Its presence on screen was truly mesmerising, and I found myself eagerly anticipating every scene it was involved in. The brilliance of this episode lies in the masterful portrayal of mixed emotions. The characters' multifaceted responses to the events unfolding around them added an extra layer of depth to the narrative. The ability to evoke a wide range of feelings, from fear to joy, and from sadness to exhilaration, is a testament to the exceptional writing and exceptional performances by the cast. One of the highlights for me was the return of the classic helpers/villains, the Voc Robots. These iconic adversaries added a nostalgic element to the episode while simultaneously presenting new challenges for our beloved protagonists. Their reappearance was seamlessly integrated into the storyline, creating a perfect balance between honouring the past and forging ahead into uncharted territory. Speaking of performances, I cannot praise the acting enough. The entire cast demonstrated their extraordinary talent, breathing life into their respective characters with conviction and authenticity. Each member of the ensemble delivered nuanced and emotionally resonant performances, enhancing the overall viewing experience. The chemistry between the actors was palpable, making every interaction feel genuine and compelling. The attention to detail in the production design and visual effects further elevated the episode. From the meticulously crafted sets to the stunning CGI sequences, every aspect of the visual presentation was nothing short of awe-inspiring. The cinematography beautifully captured the essence of the story, immersing the audience in the world of DW2012 and allowing us to experience the adventure alongside the characters. As a dedicated fan, I am left eagerly anticipating the next episode. The impeccable writing, stellar performances, and breathtaking visuals have solidified my admiration for DW2012. This series continues to push the boundaries of storytelling, delivering a riveting journey through time that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats. In conclusion, DW2012 Episode 5: The Summer of '82 is a flawless masterpiece that effortlessly blends new elements, such as the captivating monster, the Movement, with the nostalgic return of the Voc Robots. The mixed emotions portrayed by the talented cast add depth and complexity to the storyline, while the impeccable production design and visual effects leave a lasting impression. I am thoroughly impressed by the exceptional acting and eagerly await the next installment of this remarkable series. 11 out of 10!

An excellent production. You did an amazing job on set dressing; having lived through the 1980s, I'd say that the contents of Jonathan's room were so evocative of the era. I like the mysterious new foe - the Movement is likely to be a big challenge for the Doctor and Megan. When a protagonist has to work hard to defeat an enemy, it makes for great drama and this episode has therefore set the bar high for the Doctor; he's already suffered at their hands, only time will tell just how much more will be taken from him before he wins through. I liked the subplot with the Brigadier, though I do wonder if more could've been made of it. Perhaps there will be other opportunities to explore the inner world of this character.

Only issue I have with this ,and it might just be me, is if the doctors hand got cut of like that n he is bleeding out he’s there for dying so his body would have regenerated or at the very least gave him his hand back could’ve been a nice little call back or if she went to Gallifrey and they sorted it via regen energy
@DW2012 Жыл бұрын
I have to disagree. I think using regeneration as a reset button in writing is a cheap "get out of jail card" this shows the Doctor living with consequences. The doctor lost a limb, he wasn't on the verge of death so the regeneration process wouldn't have started.

Guys, I really appreciate what you're trying to do here, but can you please look into setting your shutter speed correctly? It's driving me bonkers.
@JackWolf10 Жыл бұрын
For reference, shutter speed should ALWAYS be set to double the number of your framerate. So 1/50 or 1/48 depending on 25 or 24fps. This is the standard for most film and television productions. Higher shutter speeds should only be used with specific intent as it causes motion to look jittery. This one change would massively help the visual quality of your productions and it requires almost no effort on your part. If you're struggling with brightness increase after setting the correct shutter speed, you'll want to adjust either your f-stops, or look into using ND filters.
@mondo1682 Жыл бұрын
I was thinking too much about the trickster. With this movement. Seemed to me this was about making chaos. And it was time for them to come home. I think they said. Did not expect the hand coming off again. And the robot hand. Though I'm kinda suspicious regeneration energy fixes that from the trailer before. We have seen uses of it before that has not triggered a regeneration. For example 11 healing River. Or 12 doing a fake regeneration to Bill. Among some.

This was an excellent episode overall, and I gave it a like. But I would be remiss if I did not point out one glaring technical fault at 34:20 There is NO WAY cell phones from 2023 would work in 1982. Period. EDIT: I should expand on this. Cell phones are not walkie-talkies. They need to communicate via cell phone towers. They expect a specific protocol to be used. For example, most phones use 4G these days. This was not around in 1982. Also, cell phones cannot make calls other than emergency calls unless their SIM cards are registered. I doubt that the cell phones involved here were registered in 1982.

I really enjoyed this and I was shocked when the Doctor's hand was cut off. However, I'm a little confused as to what the movement's plan was in this episode. Would you mind explaining it?
@DW2012 Жыл бұрын
The Movement are rouge time travelers who have gone back to 1982 to feed future knowledge into Jonathan, who then wrote a script for a film that shouldn't have existed which manipulated time. When their plan failed because the Doctor destroyed the script, the Movement realize that Jonathan is now useless to them. So they attempt to clean up their tracks by disposing of the asset. To why they are wanting to manipulate time, well that's something you are yet to find out.

There’s really no need to compare us to the real show either positively or negatively :) We never ever claim to be professional, we’re just doing this to have fun and tell the stories we want to tell, and to pay tribute to the show we love, never ever to compete with it obviously, because that is impossible. We’re amateurs, they’re pros, and we’re making this out of love for the real show - it’s all good! All we wanna do is make our fan series the absolute best we can - there’s no need to argue! :)
