Perhaps Dr. Who crew is a fan or grown up watching Galaxy Express 999 (or maybe even read Miyazawa's Night of Galactic Railroad, novel that came before (and form the basis of Leiji Matsumoto's) GE999)

It is not the galaxy express 999 because the loco does not have the freaking number 999 on the front and also the loco is not black it is green also the loco doesn’t have the galaxy express 999 logo on the freaking tender

And it’s says on chrome that the steam locomotive for the orient express in this episode is the LNER CLASS L NO.4271 So if the locomotive is an LNER locomotive then why is it being served as the orient express locomotive

That makes no sense No L class, 4271 was a pigeon van It looks to be a mod of the *Prussian* BR Class 74 2-6-0T(a loco from what is now Germany) It does have an LNER style four-axle tender.

If the locomotive is a tender engine then why does it have a coal bunker on the back of the cab that makes no sense
