It makes Sense becuase the train looks like the galaxy express with the loco and coaches and it makes so much sense even though this is a French train and not Japanese and the locos and cars are 2 different types but I don’t care that did make me think of 3 9 back when I saw this episode how I do not know

Is this episode a pun to Leiji Matsumoto's works? or based on a novel that Leiji read before he wrote GE999? How 'Maetel' teams up with 'Dr. Who?' ... in truth Maetel is Leiji's equivalent to Dr. Who (or not?) But the Dr. Who team aren't courage enough to make a Maetel's lookalikes even it's so easy to do so, recruiting a white blonde cast that has similar face to Maetel (or any of Miss Leijiverse) and a knee-lengh blonde wig, the rest is makeup artist's works. Do you think Kylie Minogue should do 'Not Maetel' ? (she did shown up in Dr. Who before).

Maetel would be a better companion for the Doctor than Clara "I'm going to throw the Doctors TARDIS keys into lava if I don't get my way" Oswald. At least Maetel is an interesting character, unlike Clara, who I was happy to see go and replaced with Bill Potts (regardless on your feelings on Series 10, can we agree that Bill was such a nice change of pace for a companion in the revived series in the sense that she wasn't romantically involved with the Doctor). Sorry this comment got way off track (no pun intended). The point is Maetel is more interesting than Clara. Just my opinion though.

Then again. 'Maetel' is a charcter owned by Leiji Matsumoto (and after his passing in 13th February 2023, Leijisha Studio which he founded in 70s or 80s). I don't think this is likely. even giving Dr. Who's companion with the same Maetel wig and black winter garments she's fond of wearing (tubular fur cap, big collar fur trimmed coat...) there may be risks of lawsuits. Note that Matsumoto later intended Maetel to be a counterpart to Dr. Who himself! with her companion (usulally) being much weaker (But more eccletic and sometimes aggressive) young boy who has no qualms shooting at someone whenever he believe he has to) and so often suffered a biggest tragedy in his young life just before meeting her.

Galaxy Express 999 belongs to Leiji Matsumoto (and later Leijisha studio) and Toei Animation. when seeing any GE999 official merchandise there is '(C) Leiji Matsumoto, Toei Animation'. so without the two's consent there will be no GE999 episodes. Also I believe British only learned of him very late. compared to continental Europeans (particularly French, which Albator (Captain Harlock) is a big hit in 1978 - 1984, and Italy), North Americans (Star Blazers: American adapations of Space Battleship Yamato (original series of 70s, which Matsumoto was a director, and also considered creator) was a big hit back then). I think he became famous in Britahin in early 2000s with Daft Punk hype (Discovery album animated music videos done by Matsumoto and Toei Animation).

You can burn in space, so if the smoke is *REALLY* dense then it might show up on the funnel, but I don't think a smoke trail would be possible as the gas would spread out very quickly in vacuum. No scientist but this is my prediction...

@@Francois_Dupont I'm still not sure about my prediction, but I do notice some difference between the video and the situation above: 1. there is no gravity to pull the smoke to the bottom of the bottle in space (assume it is far away from any planetary objects) 2. the smoke generated in the bottle doesn't have much velocity (pressure inside a train boiler would push the gas out, unless the boiler is exposed to vacuum which the water inside would boil immediately) 3. the bottle is too small, when the smoke builds up, the pressure inside the bottle is no longer a vacuum I'd expect something like this, which the smoke trail is barely visible: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pn7Wp6VrasiHkJI

@@EdwardChan.999 smoke is mainly water droplets and various particulate from the coal burning or whatever. the rocket might have exhausted only pure gas like CO or something similar without any soot particle because of the pure burning of the engine and internal shockwave inside the bell raising the temperature and pressure of the burn area. the russian Soyuz burn kerosene i think (yes, i just checked it is en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soyuz-2), and even on earth there is no smoke. my guess is the smoke will be less visible because only the droplets and particulate will reflect light and there will be no other interaction like condensation forming with the surrounding air due to the temperature difference (like when you see your breath in winter). the smoke will continue to move and dissipate more quickly. but, as was the original question. yes there will be smoke in space. just less visible.

@@superplushtiman7ti075 similiar plot is used in Galaxy Express 999 before. and this is MAIN Plot Leiji Matsumoto included in all iterations of this work. When the 999 is inside a space tunnel somewhere in the Asteroid belt. a demon (shinigami.) masquerade itself as Kanae (Tetsuro's mom, who is sniped very early when the story begins) and asked Tetsuro to sit right next and give a hug. only he to later to be revealed that his 'mother' he see is actually a shinigami who's sucking up his life force and almost killed him until Claire (A machinewoman watriess who has a transparent body made of glass) rushed to save him, doing suicide attack that killed Shinigami alongside her.
