I remember back when this first aired the thing that gutted me most was Osgood getting disintegrated. Only my deep and abiding love for Michelle Gomez's Master kept it from making me irreconcilably hostile to the character. HOW DARE YOU HURT OSGOOD!

Well, we learned back in the Matt Smith era (remember "Closing Time") that profound love will break the cyberman control. Guess they haven't fixed that bug just yet.

Actually, I think we learned from “Doomsday" in Series 2 with Tennant. The leader of Torchwood broke Cyber-influence for “Queen and Country".

In all fairness to Danny, the Doctor started their whole antagonistic relationship by insulting him and refusing to admit that he was a maths teacher back in "The Caretaker". Not to mention all the resentment he'd no doubt be feeling towards him, due to Clara keeping all her adventuring secret from him, and the fact that said secret-keeping ultimately resulted in him dying and being turned into a Cyberman. With all that in mind, it's really no surprise that he never really warms up to the Doctor

Yeah, it's odd to me how so many people seem to forget that. The Doctor was HORRID to Danny from the very beginning -- I seriously don't blame him for pushing back and not just laying back and taking it. I mean, I love the Doctor, but he can definitely be a real jerk to some people.

@@NicoleM_radiantbaby I mentioned this in last episode's reaction too, but I think a lot of fans tend to idolise the Doctor and treat them like the ultimate authority who's always right. And as a result of this deification, these same fans react negatively to characters who call them out (as with Clara, Danny, and I'd argue it's also part of the reason why Donna initially had quite a polarised reaction)

Nice reaction. For what it's worth, I agree with most of your comments on Danny etc. It's a shame we didn't know him better before he clashed with the Doctor. As it is, I didn't especially like him either but he was a good man at the end of the day.

I dunno sometimes I feel with some story beats are being revisited, if it’s a story beat from ‘05/‘06 being revisited in ‘14 that’s nearly a decade later, that isn’t as big a deal to be as something from like ‘12 or ‘13.

How does Danny's battle with the Doctor make us not like Danny so much? It actually made me dislike the Doctor, who had a real dislike of Danny from the very beginning and never really gave him a chance. Thankfully, the Doctor gets better in Series 9. Let's hope your attitude about Clara does too.

@@MrTambourineMan. I'd have to disagree. The Clara *hate* isn't earned, though them having criticisms is fair. Some people think that dislike of Clara is a standard within the fandom when it's not-a lot of people love Clara and have her as their favorite companion. I definitely believe in reactors sharing opinions, however as many commenters have expressed in these more recent reactions, the Clara hate is getting annoying and even turning people off. Expressing criticisms and frustrations of a character is one thing, but when your hate on a character is grating on your audience, you may want to reconsider how you express your "hate" for a character.

@@emberrey1814 This is like Rose in reverse. IMO, Rose did even worse to deserve criticism, but I never hated her. Yet Missy herself explained in an earlier reaction how much she hated River at first because of how familiar she was with the Doctor, and she felt that this was displacing Rose in a way, and that she (Missy) loved Rose. That's something I don't understand, and never will. She loves Rose, but hates on Clara?

I loved Clara until she got a boyfriend. Then she became insufferable. But that is not at all unrealistic. If you get around to seeing the classic series, and get to know the brigadier, that scene in the cemetery will hit harder.
