Interesting thing about Peter Capaldi during his tenure as the Doctor. He refused to do any romance scenes. One of the rings he wears is designed to cover his wedding ring. He is very devoted to his wife.

He and River are a married couple (and he’s evidently been *telling* people if the phrase “known consort of the Doctor” is any indication) and he finally honours those vows. He settles. He stays. He loves. And, in the end, they both lived happily.

Slowly, they leaned toward each other, the scent of cologne mixing with excitement as their hands steadied the rim of the bowl placed teasingly inside James's waistband. As Eli lowered his face, the cool water splashed slightly against his cheeks, heightening every sensation. His breath brushed against James's stomach, causing a sharp intake of breath that only Eli noticed. His lips grazed an apple as he struggled to keep his focus, but all he could feel was James’s presence, so close, so inviting. Finally, Eli caught the apple with his teeth, but before pulling away, their eyes met again, and a soft grin spread across James's face. The room may have been filled with laughter and teasing remarks, but for the two boys, time seemed to pause in the shared intensity of the moment. When Eli finally pulled back, the apple dropped to the floor, but it didn’t matter. They were both left breathless, feeling the charge between them that no one else seemed to notice. A spark had ignited in the most unexpected of games, and they knew that this night would change things. Without a word, James’s fingers lingered a little longer at Eli's side, a silent promise of what was to come.

I think the Doctor does love River. He is just awkward at showing it. Besides just because it she was scanned as not lying doesn’t mean it was right, just because you believe something doesn’t make it true. Also way back in Forest of the Dead she said “You showed up at my doorstep, with a new haircut and a suit.” I loved the Doctors jealous reaction and pretending to be shocked at the Tardis. 11 and River are the best characters. River #1 Amy is the best companion. The Diary of River Song audiobook series is awesome check it out!

It's a nice fun little christmas episode and the first appearance of new companion Nardole. I love the damsel in distress scene where they show pictures of all 13 incarnations of the Doctor. I also find this the most satisfying ending for River Song if it is the last we see of her.

This was the end of the show for me. I've been thinking of watching Series 10 but given the reception of it, this serves as a perfect epilogue for me. 9 seasons that culminated in a beautiful episode in which our character lives happily.

I love the comedic tone of the episode, but it have a little thing that annoying me, it make looks River Song really dumb not realising she is with the Doctor. And the Doctor it's saying it to her face since the beggining of the episode.
