Commenting before watching, but I just gotta say, I couldn’t be more hyped than you experiencing this season. I’ve seen pretty much every single Doctor Who reactor, but your memory and attention to detail, especially with the musical cues, is OUTSTANDING. This is my all-time favorite season of Who and is the season that made Capaldi my Doctor. I hope you enjoy this season and the next one half as much as I did. In a few episodes is what I consider the GREATEST SPEECH IN TELEVISION HISTORY. I have a feeling you’ll know it when you see it. I look forward to it.

True, but in that episode with the speech there are other great moments. I don't like it when people say an episode is the 'best ever' but when asked about it they only mention one thing.

The Doctor and Clara dynamic is so good.

It wasn't until this rewatch (and just before the comment was made in the reaction) that I realized Clara's behavior was a consequence of not dealing with her past grief and trauma. Now that I think about it, I'm reminded of Jeff Bridges' character in "Fearless". The survivor's guilt and grief causes him to become adventurous and reckless, kind of like how Clara is changing.

I liked this end. And well this whole 2 parter. Fun fact time......the person who plays the actual creator of ghosts.....is actually that tall. He is like 7'7" lol

Love Capaldi's era, just watched this episode. Felt like 5 minutes because the episode was so very good. He's not just a time lord, he's a practical time lord. And Capaldi's era just feels more natural paced, probably cause Moffat writes these detective like episodes and it feels better like Orient Express one, that was great too. Matt was great but it just felt we were rushing from one time to another.

Oddly, I saw a lot of references to the Chronicles of Narnia in these two parts. The wall mural in the canteen looked like an illustration from Voyage of the Dawn Treader and the Fisher King looked like the illustration of Tash in The Last Battle. Not sure if this was deliberate, or just a fluke🤷🏼‍♀️

I got the impression that the FK didn't consider them arrogant for using their power, but because they *didn't* use their power to dominate other species. It was an alien concept to show restraint or compassion.

Using Shazam, it identified the intro as "Tilt" by Hannah Parrott. The outro is something Japanese that I can't read.

Hi Im, something I noticed - your previous episode had subtitles in the upload but this one doesn't. I was wondering if it is possible for you to keep subtitles on? Sometimes, the episode audio is quiet and it overlaps with what you're saying so it becomes a bit difficult to grasp what's going on, especially for someone who hasn't watched these episodes in a while like me. It's fine if you can't for some reason though. Cheers!

I seem to be alone in being underwhelmed by this episode. Part of it is that the story sets up some great ideas but never finds an interesting use for them. The bootstrap paradox has been done before, way more interestingly and without the need for a 4th-wall-breaking lecture to carry it -- Blink. (Having said that, if the BBC decided that every episode needed a sci-fi lecture to the viewer from Peter Capaldi, there’d be absolute zero complaints from me.) And I probably set myself up for disappointment for expecting the Fisher King to have a more interesting role (it *is* a common literary allusion), but he’s just another alien tyrant. But what’s more annoying is the use of tired tropes: A female love interest (O'Donnell) being killed off for the sake of drama. Shipping the cast as a story resolution. A lot of this does build towards the series’ actual story arc, but the episode itself just leaves me cold.
